Lili has decided to take her postmaster duties serious, as she has apparently retained the title. She is going to spend the next few years setting up and maintaining (personally and through her assorted resources) mailboxes at regular points throughout nexus, including a bunch scattered around the top levels and one at every (sensible) elevator entrance. She's creating them out of Mystery, Dream, Spatial, Warding, and Progress (with initial assistance from Darston <Progress and auto-respawn> and TSG <Spatial, Gate Magic, Warding, Universe for purposes of mana-shaping>) with the following properties:
- Von Mion Mail Service logo (Stylized V as the opening to a mailbox, with a stylized M on a letter being fed into it)
- Active progress-and-mystery-based mana-pattern camo, enabling to blend into the environments they're in and appear natural/like they are meant to be there
- Thought-based interface (augmented by her twinning psionics to dream, with Progress added in), including a summary of options and easy to use how-to, forbidden items (Anything deemed likely to actively damage the recipient of the mail; she is dis-allowing this particular system being weaponized. No mail bombs! Stuff like letters that could provoke wars or any other indirect methods are fine though.), and a privacy statement (which effectively says she will not, by rote, sell information on what you're doing to other people)
- Items that are forbidden or mail that is refuse is simply not accepted, and the mail-ee is informed of why/what steps must be taken to make it something that can be mailed
- Dream-and-mystery-based privacy settings on the mail, preventing most individuals from intercepting or knowing what was mailed until it's opened by the individual it was delivered to
- Divination-based auto-suggestive-correction on recipient names, prompting individuals using them of likely errors in address/recipient (but with the option to just mail it as listed)
- An option for the recipient to turn down the service, if it seems like something they might not want
- An option to deliver things to areas or locations rather than individuals (with assorted restrictions pursuant to zone balance and nexus policy, leaning on "non-aggressive"/"doesn't cause problems")
- The option to enhance the service in exchange for mana/XP, which is used to enhance the delivery of the package in question (with a little off the top that goes towards maintaining the network)
- A notice indicating likely complications to arise, should such be relevant, and which extra "delivery packages" would be most likely to overcome them
- A modular network (with anti-tamper properties) connecting it to other mailboxes, with a respawn clause on them that re-creates destroyed mailboxes through something like the Enigma Man respawn mechanic through referencing the greater shape of the network
- Entirely defensive anti-tamper wards that protect it from vandalism
- Her, and only her, having admin access to the mail system
Most of the mana needed for this project is being drawn from the surrounding areas, outside the original startup seeds which come from Lili/Darston/TSG.
Lili is maintaining a log of everything that gets mailed, but not using it for any sort of nefarious purposes and is keeping it more out of habit/to improve the network.
(Something for my folks to do while I'm entirely inactive; TSG/Darston should drop out of having to interact with this pretty fast)
