Staggering a bit, Tolva heads back into the elevator and attempts LOGIC.
DRUNK LOGIC.
(and some puzzle-solving logic courtesy of his gameworld upbringing)

So there's a bunch of buttons to enter the number, and he knows the disc he's after should have two buttons to press, one of which should be to the left of the other. Simple! He readies his clawed finger.
One. Two.

...that was probably the left number of buttons, left?

Many witches fly around on brooms, and clusters of scholars huddle on bridges, discussing magic spells and tomes of lore.

There's also a box by Tolva's left foot.

Snagging the box with his tail (hell, maybe he can combo it into something less aggressively-shiny later) and dropping a Blazing Demon Gate behind him to distract the horde of holy-rollers, the little demon jumps right on back into the elevator and hammers at the buttons.

Re: Tolva In: Screw It, Let's Get Drunk And Go Gambling (Again)

Post by Lord Gadigan »

2:42 PM] Gadigan: Let's work out what needs to be done to clarify this item: Index of Serial Killers- (Weapon, Book, Darkness, 4,000,000 Gold) +4,000 Melee Attack, 40% Critical, Wielder's 'Magical Attack' actions may use wielder's 'Melee Attack' bonus, and, if they do, they count as involving three additional Humans and Murder Arts Spells that give Melee Attack become compatible said action's attacks instead of whatever spells would normally be compatible with them.
[2:42 PM] Gadigan: Because I think its wording is correct
[2:42 PM] Gadigan: But agree that it is confusing
[2:43 PM] Gadigan: So, the first bits are standard with the Melee Attack and Critical
[2:43 PM] Gadigan: Next up
[2:43 PM] Gadigan: Magical Attack actions may use the Melee Attack bonus
[2:43 PM] Gadigan: I suppose it doesn't say instead of Magical Attack bonus
[2:43 PM] Gadigan: So it's ambiguous if it is instead of or in addition to
[2:43 PM] Gadigan: So I'll edit that
[2:43 PM] Gadigan: Let's work out what needs to be done to clarify this item: Index of Serial Killers- (Weapon, Book, Darkness, 4,000,000 Gold) +4,000 Melee Attack, 40% Critical, Wielder's 'Magical Attack' actions may use wielder's 'Melee Attack' bonus instead of wielder's 'Magical Attack' bonus, and, if they do, they count as involving three additional Humans and Murder Arts Spells that give Melee Attack become compatible said action's attacks instead of whatever spells would normally be compatible with them.
[2:44 PM] Gadigan: So
[2:44 PM] Gadigan: If the wielder makes the choice for a Magical Attack action to use wielder's Melee Attack bonus
[2:44 PM] Gadigan: Then the following triggers
[2:44 PM] Gadigan: "they count as involving three additional Humans and Murder Arts Spells that give Melee Attack become compatible said action's attacks instead of whatever spells would normally be compatible with them."
[2:44 PM] Gadigan: So there's two parts there
[2:44 PM] Gadigan: The first part is that the Magical Attack counts as involving three additional Humans
[2:44 PM] Gadigan: Actually
[2:44 PM] Gadigan: Hm
[2:44 PM] Gadigan: Yeah
[2:44 PM] Gadigan: Proceeding
[2:44 PM] Gadigan: So
[2:44 PM] Gadigan: Then the last part
[2:44 PM] Gadigan: "Murder Arts Spells that give Melee Attack become compatible said action's attacks instead of whatever spells would normally be compatible with them"
[2:45 PM] Caelzeph: It may need a comma. I think that's what threw my parsing off.
[2:45 PM] Gadigan: So the user can use Murder Arts spells with a Melee Attack bonus as part of the Magical Attack action, but can't use spells that just have a Magical Attack bonus
[2:45 PM] Gadigan: With that part being worded the way it is
[2:45 PM] Gadigan: In case they have weaseled their way into using Ranged Attack
[2:45 PM] Gadigan: Instead of Magical
[2:45 PM] Gadigan: It would shut that down too
[2:45 PM] Gadigan: A comma works
[2:45 PM] Gadigan: Okay
[2:45 PM] Celas: maybe rephrase to
[2:46 PM] Gadigan: Index of Serial Killers- (Weapon, Book, Darkness, 4,000,000 Gold) +4,000 Melee Attack, 40% Critical, Wielder's 'Magical Attack' actions may use wielder's 'Melee Attack' bonus instead of wielder's 'Magical Attack' bonus, and, if they do, they count as involving three additional Humans, and Murder Arts Spells that give Melee Attack become compatible said action's attacks instead of whatever spells would normally be compatible with them.
[2:46 PM] Celas: something like
[2:47 PM] Celas: "this Magical Attack can only use Murder Arts Spells that provide a Melee Attack Bonus"
[2:47 PM] Celas: It applies the same logical effect, without being quite so verbose
[2:48 PM] Gadigan: Index of Serial Killers- (Weapon, Book, Darkness, 4,000,000 Gold) +4,000 Melee Attack, 40% Critical, Wielder's 'Magical Attack' actions may use wielder's 'Melee Attack' bonus instead of wielder's 'Magical Attack' bonus, and, if they do, they count as involving three additional Humans, and this Magical Attack can only involve the casting of Murder Arts Spells that provide a Melee Attack Bonus.
[2:48 PM] Celas: probably needs a bit of refinement
[2:48 PM] Gadigan: How about that?
[2:48 PM] Celas: looks good to me!
[2:49 PM] Gadigan: Excellent
[2:49 PM] Gadigan: Posting it
