Roundup: Mechanics Clashes and Clarifications

Post by Modrageball »

Condensed from the hanging non-Mod-World Gad-Review threads, here's a roundup of item/ability mechanics that need clarifying, and clashes encountered.

Mandate Magellan Clarifications

Regarding Magellan's Vessels:

What is their Prime Attribute? What are their Base Dodge/To Hit/Critical/Resilience/Defense/Stat Defense Values? (Assumption: These are all entirely tied to abilities the Magellan learns and/or Supersystems the Vessel equips, as they're built like PCs- however, with no existing examples of Supersystems, I wasn't sure if this was the case.)

Ability Clarifications

Eternity Oath: My House Always Contains Minotaurs- (Passive Ability, Blessing) Whenever possessor creates a battlespace, 20 Minotaur from the Enemy List are summoned into it, even if possessor is lower Level

This should probably have 'on possessor's side of battle', otherwise that's more of a Curse than a Blessing. Reference Link

Lord Gadigan wrote:Any Worshipper Benefits that don't have the Patron Deity's Level in them as a cap likely should. Those can be run by me at the end of the thread as some kind of fix-batch.
The following Worshipper Benefit-related abilities don't mention the Patron Deity's Level as a cap:
Bestow Worshipper Benefit: Drug-Fueled Revelry- (Passive Ability, Other: Worldbound God) Possessor may choose for possessor's Devout Worshippers to obtain the following Worshipper Benefit: Drug-Fueled Revelry- Possessor, for purposes of possessor's Patron Deity's abilities whose name includes 'Empowered by', counts as an additional (Possessor's Level x the number of non-Withdrawal/Addiction Drug-granted abilities Possessor possesses), Worshipper Benefit

Bestow Worshipper Benefit: Hex-Banishing Luminescence - (Passive Ability, Other: Worldbound God) Possessor may choose for possessor's Devout Worshippers to obtain the following Worshipper Benefit: Hex-Banishing Luminescence- Possessor gains (Possessor's Level x 5)% Hexed Resistance, Possessor is cured of Hexed at the start of each round if in a Zone of Light, Possessor's allies have a (Possessor's Level x2)% chance of being cured of Hexed at the start of each round

Bestow Worshipper Benefit: Mad Magic- (Passive Ability, Other: Worldbound God) Possessor may choose for possessor's Devout Worshippers to obtain the following Worshipper Benefit: Mad Magic- Possessor's 'Magical Attack', 'Overdrive' and 'Grand Spell' actions may gain a (Possessor Level x 4)% Chance of inflicting Confusion or a (Possessor Level / 5, rounded down)% chance of inflicting Insanity, Worshipper Benefit

Item Clarifications

Probably missing text:
Imaginary Muscles- (Accessory, Bioaugmentation, Psychic, 500,000 Gold) If Muscles is set to Real, possessor gains +500 STR, (Insert Imaginary Element Text Here)
Attempted Fix, With Required Input wrote: Imaginary Muscles- (Accessory, Bioaugmentation, Psychic, 500,000 Gold) If Muscles is set to Real, possessor gains +500 STR, Wielder may, so long as no individual of higher Level or that is Level 100 or greater objects, spend an action to change this item's name to 'Muscle Thinking', sets the status of the Imaginary Element 'Muscles' to Manifested, changes this item's element to 'Muscles', and its text to <INSERT NEW MECHANICS HERE>
Missing element:
Fantastically Soothing Hand Lotion- (Consumable, Potion, 20 Charges, 500,000 Gold) Removes all Concern element items from the thread that aren't worth over 50,000,000 Gold

has been changed to

Principle Assault: Armor of the Hedgehog Knight- (Technique Ability, Dragoon: Jouster) Possessor may use 'Principle Assault: Armor of the Hedgehog Knight' in conjunction with an 'Attack with Finesse' action

for now.
Cauldron of Six Hells- (Accessory, Container: Chalice, Fire & Darkness & Torment, 66,666,666 Gold) Wielder's Demon allies obtain +6,666 to all stats as a non-stacking bonus, Wielder deals 666,666 additional HP Healing and MP Healing to Demons (when already dealing the corresponding value to said Demon), Wielder's Food consumables may gain the subtype Demon, Devil, or Daemon when wielder uses them
Reference Link
Chalice is currently a Weapon subtype (classname: Grailkeeper). Potential changes to address this: Make the Weapon subtype 'Grail', or change the Accessory subtype to 'Cup' or similar.

Artifact Aspect Clarifications Reference Link

Two of the Weapon Aspects of the The Chromesmith's Warchest have identical Elements. This is probably not intentional, as all of the other guns are distinct from each other.
*Bitter Wisdom- (Weapon Aspect: The Chromesmith's Warchest, Gun, Acid & Time & Rot & Madness & Stasis, X Gold) +400,000 Ranged Attack, For each different previous action (judging 'different' by either including a spell or technique not included in a previous action it performed or involving an active ability or enemy ability with a different name than all of its prior actions) that each target performed, wielder chooses a stat, with this item dealing (4,000 x #) Damage, with the # being the number of times that stat was chosen, with different stats being able to be chosen by this weapon's wielder for the same target when it would deal different instances of stat damage

*Grandfather's Dream- (Weapon Aspect: The Chromesmith's Warchest, Gun, Acid & Time & Rot & Madness & Stasis, X Gold) +400,000 Ranged Attack, if this weapon is wielded at the start of battle, wielder and all of wielder's allies obtain, as a non-stacking buff, a non-replenishable pool of 4,000,000 HP that is exhausted prior to other pools of HP, Wielder deals double Damage (to a max of 100,000,000,000 additional Damage) and gains +100,000 uncapped points to all stats if wielder previously possessed at least 5 unique allies during the thread, but they are all either dead due to an opposing source or have been removed from the thread by an opponent
*Bitter Wisdom is also likely missing 'to that stat' following 'with this item dealing (4,000 x #) Damage', given the following body of that statblock suggests stat damage is being dealt.

*Tropic of Dantallion- (Weapon Aspect: The Chromesmith's Warchest, Gun, Evil & Mystic & Spatial & Astral & Knowledge, X Gold) +400,000 Ranged Attack, 3 hits against 500,000, when wielder makes an attack using this weapon, wielder chooses a Wizard Magic, Necromancy, Dark Magic, Blight Magic, Demon Magic, Astral Magic, Binder Magic, Blood Magic, Contract Magic, Danmaku, Rune Magic, War Magic, Ancient Magic, Catastrophe Magic, or Contingency Magic spell that either wielder has equipped or is carrying or that is in stock in the Shop, At the start of each round, wielder gains an must, if able, perform a 'Cast a Spell' action involving each of those chosen spells sequentially, with spells chosen not being tracked between different battles
As written, this seems to suggest that this weapon will grant an ever-increasing number of bonus 'Cast A Spell' actions each round- for instance, if on round 1 the wielder chooses a Wizard Magic spell when attacking, on round 2 they would cast that spell. If they then choose a War Magic spell when they next attack on round 2, on round 3 they'd gain an action each to case both the previous Wizard Magic spell, then the War Magic spell. This continues, with the list of free actions.
This conflicts somewhat with the Additional Actions rule (namely, no more than one bonus action from the same effect from the same source per round), unless an exception is made.
Alternative possible intentions could include creating a list of spells with that first attack, and then gaining a single bonus action at the start of each subsequent round that has to go through that list in sequence on subsequent rounds (in which case, the wording should be 'wielder chooses a number of' before the list of spell types).
*Fortissmo Grandhavoc- (Weapon Aspect: The Chromesmith's Warchest, Gun, Time & Destruction & Sonic & Dopple, X Gold) +400,000 Ranged Attack, 1 hit against 700,000, When wielder kills an entity with an attack involving this weapon, wielder, up to 4 times per round, gains an additional action, creates a new battlespace that lasts until the end of that action that contains a Zone of Time & Destruction that, as a non-stacking effect, doubles the max number of targets of all multi-target attacks, to a max of 20,000,000,000 additional targets, and moves itself and all other entities in its battlespace that are not (entities Level 80 or greater than object) for the duration of that action
Fortissimo Grandhavoc likewise falls foul of the Additional Actions rule, unless an exception is specified.

Sword of Vashna Clarification Reference Link

Sword of Vashna- (Weapon, Sword, Mystic & Void & Glory & Fate & Destruction & Life & Spatial, 1,000,000,000 Gold) +1,000,000 Melee Attack, +1,000,000 Magical Attack, +1,000,000 to all stats, May Heal, Are the 100 and 99 supposed to be reversed there?

"Wielder may, in the shop thread, convert this item into the sub-character Sword-Vashna for a month"
I'm under the assumption after the CAIN shindig and becoming a real character with his own name, this might be dangerous wording to leave on here?

Does it need this? I was under the impression that, unless an ability or item that summons states that it summons on an opposing side of battle or as an uncontrolled summon, it summons the summon on the summoner's side of battle.

If it isn't, please add: 'Unless an ability or item that summons states that it summons on an opposing side of battle or as an uncontrolled summon, it summons the summon on the summoner's side of battle.' to the rules thread under the Summoning heading.

Ah, no, that'd be an incomplete ruling that'd do something funny in edge cases.

Also add this:

'If the caster of a spell is not the individual who possesses the spell, the summons are summoned on the caster's side of battle rather than the possessor's side of battle.'

after that.

[7:38 PM]Gadigan: Hrm, rules clarifications now have me wondering
[7:38 PM]Gadigan: Has anyone been using charm to summon things on sides of battle that aren't the side of the individual with the summoning ability?
[7:39 PM]The One True Pathaky: Charm the status effect?
[7:39 PM]Gadigan: Because if so, the new ruling is breaking that, but I'm not sure that was ever a thing in the first place, and it doesn't need to be (without an ability) if it wasn't
[7:39 PM]Gadigan: Yeah
[7:39 PM]Gadigan: For instance, hitting a Vampire with charm and then making it summon a bunch of bats or something. Are the bats yours or the vampire's side's?
[7:39 PM]The One True Pathaky: Hrm
[7:40 PM]Gadigan: The new ruling says they're on the side of the vampire, but I don't want to break someone's build if they were using that to summon them on the other side before
[7:42 PM]Caelzeph: Huh. I don't think anyone's been doing that.
[7:42 PM]Gadigan: Okay, that's sort of what I thought, but I've been disconnected enough from battles that I wasn't sure

-Updated-

In which I find the Uniques list in the Shop is actually out of order, with three separate clumps of Uniques beginning with 'The' in random places.

That's now been fixed.

The confusion over this was in the wording- instead of 'Possessor summons', the source of the summoning was kept neutral, potentially allowing for the argument the Minotaurs were an uncontrolled third side of battle.

Fortiss(i?)mo Grandhavoc likewise falls foul of the Additional Actions rule, unless an exception is specified.
