He'll start to float towards pella now, figuring that this form will hopefully avoid issues with teh rain. He's also attempting to avoid conflicts too.
Aeromage wrote: Remalius exits the palatial gate complex to find the lands outside cast into dull twilight, heavy, dark-green clouds hanging low and swirling in slow, threatening patterns.

Shifting into his rather larger green moon-helix form, the spell-being promptly sets off along the road to the east. The roads seem to be rather empty, the occasional discarded item, broken piece of wood and other assorted detritus giving the impression that a large volume of traffic has come and gone in the recent past.
Further along the road, a segment of the tall hedgerow bordering the northern edge of the thoroughfare seems to have somehow been turned to stone and overgrown with thick tangles of vines that are in part similarly petrified, with some tendrils having been roughly severed, the frayed ends gleaming a dull gold. The rear half of a cow is sticking out of part of this entire mess, along with various small birds and other local wildlife, all apparently being in some distress.
kitsune106 wrote: Remmie's orbs dim for a second then brighten in his version of a blink. Distress is something that he does not like though, so he attempts to help free the creatures and the wildlife from the hedge of doom!

HE attempts to use the aura of dead seconds to age the hedge to dust, as the killborg works to remove the vines and stuff from the other animals.

After that, Onwards, although the killborg and remmie speed up, curious as to what sort of monster is terrorizing the wildlife!
Aeromage wrote: Switching the Aura to active-mode, given Remalius' general lack of Auramancer abilities, results in an unfortunately indiscriminate mass-ageing of everything in the vicinity. Small animals expire almost instantly and crumble to dust, and the cow begins to wither on the spot. The non-petrified vines, on the other hand, begin thrashing wildly, partially-resisting the effect through being a weirldly agile example of plantlife.
The Killborg, on the other hand, puts a stop to it through some rather terminal pruning. Given the Killborg's usual level of subtlety, the result is a mass of mulch and dust where the hedgerow used to stand, a few elderly animals tottering away from the carnage.

Remalius gains XP for a Level 19 enemy.

Having solved the situation after a fashion, Remalius speeds along the road, fields blurring as he passes. Despite the heavily overcast sky draining colour from the surrounding lands, things are obviously more colourful than they were before in the surrounding farmland, clumps and clusters of strange plants and flowers having sprung up in patches and blankets all over the countryside. A long, erratic ridge of earth and stone appears to have also sprouted to the south since his last visit, too, vaguely following the same direction as the road.

A particularly vivid patch of blue grass seems to be attempting to invade the road some way further along, a small group of aloe-like plants with deep-blue spiked leaves sprouting among the strange growth. One in particular seems larger and more well-established than the others, a long, straight stalk sticking out of its centre, ending in a small, bulbous, fractal-spiked ball.

The surrounding farmland certain seems to have been taking quite the turn for the peculiar. One field appears to have been overrun with a sharp, spiky-looking tangle of extremely thick brambles, several others have had large trees of unusual shape and colour spring up within their boundaries, and many more have splashes of odd colour and texture interrupting the usual crop growth.
One particularly notable tree Remalius notices as the terrain gives over to the ridge-and-cliff-filled plains that begin to mark the transition to his destination is bent over double in an upside-down U-shape, spindly branches filled with pale silver-yellow crescent-shaped leaves blowing fitfully in the breeze.

5000 xp of his mana, to see if the tree responds to it, trying to indicate to the tree he's a friend. A pair of dice then manifest from his magical energy, a pair of d20 , with all sorts of weird symbols on it, and tosses them, trying to divine , if anything, the tree is good for.

Remalius approaches the tree and radiates mana! Nothing overtly changes in the tree, although something in its branches glitters slightly in response.
The moon-being then manifests a pair of insubstantial, magical-energy dice to divine the nature of the tree. While the unstable constructs vanish almost as soon as they hit the ground, he gets the name 'Crescent Jumblefruit Tree' for his efforts.
kitsune106 wrote: Remmie's orbs shine green in understanding . "Greetings Jumble Tree..." he intones out in a bell like greeting. Assuming he gets the object, another 15,000 of moon mana is expelled into the tree, as a thank you.

The kilborg continues tearing up... errr.. helpfully clearing the fields for the farmers, and making alot of magical mulch too.
Aeromage wrote: There isn't any farmland nearby- the terrain is ridges, cliffs and grassy plains. Or at least it was. Unusual plantlife, trees and rocks alike are being reduced to rubble, splinters and useless shreds in its wake. Also being torn to pieces are some sort of sub-surface plant-creatures, which really aren't able to do anything to stop the overenthusiastic murderbot's rampage.

Remalius gets XP for 32 Level 15 entities.

Remalius picks the glittering object! It looks like some kind of smooth, silvery crescent moon-shaped fruit.

He gets:

kitsune106 wrote: The killborg is recalled. Remmie thanks the jumbletree with another 25k of mana from himself.

That done, unless something else glitters , in which case he'll pick that too, he continues onward!
Aeromage wrote: Nothing else particularly glittery being forthcoming, Remalius continues his journey!

Things proceed fairly uneventfully for an hour or two. Remalius notes that the sides of the roads have been shored up with heavy wooden planks, presumably to deal with erosion from the earlier rainfall-curse. Eventually, the moon-being finds himself at the familiar fork in the road, one side snaking up a long ridge towards the two-tier town of Pella, its white stone buildings turned a dull greenish hue by the light filtering through the clouds. Heavy mists cloak the lower part of the town, as usual.

Decidedly unfamiliar, however, is the huge, green tower a way to the south along the road to Marefore. The towering edifice has elaborately-carved sides and beautifully vaulted windows and archways set into its walls, along with a mass of balconies, galleries and other architectural extravagances, many of them surrounded by or partially covered with a multitude of billowing green-white clouds. Its length vanishes into the mass of clouds above, preventing Remalius from gauging exactly how tall the thing is. The long, winding ridge of jagged earth the moon-spell-entity saw vaguely following the road to Pella ends abruptly at one of its sides.

Aeromage wrote: Remalius floats towards the town! What becomes immediately evident as he floats his way closer is that the town is rather... greener than when he last saw it. The town walls have collapsed in several places, plantlife growing through the cracks. Whereas before there were a few waterlogged trees dotted here and there in the place, parts of the town are now interrupted with small, tightly-packed areas of dense foliage in a variety of colours, the trees in some cases towering up to three times the size of the surrounding houses. Some sort of white-flowering vine with eye-bendingly vivid purple-edged petals has grown over and around most of the buildings and the external walls of the town, and what looks to be a group of gigantic, dark-green vines have grown up the waterfall, some sprouting huge leaves that have rediverted the flow of water into the surrounding streets, turning the nearby roads and some of the steep, narrow sets of stairs into small rivers and waterfalls in their own right.
The entire place appears deserted.

Aeromage wrote: Remalius floats into the town.

Things get... hazy.

Remalius find himself in a long, straight street lined with white-stone houses with red-tiled roofs. None of the houses seem to have doors, and their windows are glassless, square holes, each filled with a mass of thick foliage. The ground is a long carpet of bright green grass, dotted with colourful pockets of wildflowers. White-flowering vines with vividly-purple-edged petals grow up the walls and along the rooftops, filling the air with fragrance. The sky is a waving, shifting canopy of leaves as seen from above, as if a gigantic forest is suspended upside-down overhead. The quiet rushing of countless rustling leaves washes over the entire area, the only sound in an otherwise silent place.

Remalius rises into the air, skimming the rooftops and finding a vista of identical long, grassy streets populated with similar buildings extending in the same direction towards the horizon, as far as he can see.
His cry bounces oddly off and around the bizarre settlement, echoing in increasingly distorted tones at varying volumes. Shortly afterwards, a beam of misty-purple light shoots skywards from a street half a mile to the east.

At the same time, the feeling that has been nagging at Remalius for the past hour (hour? He can't have been here that long, surely. Could he?) finally clicks. The place is absolutely saturated in Dream mana.
kitsune106 wrote: Remmie's orbs flash a bit in suprirse. This is odd. He starts to float towards where that light came from, unsure what it is. If he gets a bad feeling, he'll attempt to suck all the dream mana into himself. This is a last resort if he feels it is theonly option.

Aeromage wrote: Remalius flies over curiously-identical streets of grass and overgrown buildings, attempting to divine the nature of the area.
He comes to the somewhat frustrated conclusion that the place is either not being dreamed by anything in particular, or is far enough out of his range to prevent him from being able to figure out what it is. Similarly, his commands to the vicinity to let him pass have no effect whatsoever.

Presently, the moon-spirit crests the top of yet another vine-overgrown line of red-roofed houses to where the light presumably came from, coming orb-to-snout with an iridescent silvery serpent-dragon with treelike branch-antlers, a moon-helix symbol on its forehead and a mane of long, silver-green grass sitting in a cloud of colour-shifting mist. It makes a confused whistling sound.

A voice issues from somewhere within its coils. "WHAT the HELL is it NOW? Is it the shrimp again? I swear, if it's the shrimp AGAIN..."

Aeromage wrote: The cat looks distinctly unhappy. "Of COURSE it's me. ...not that I blame you for asking. I'M not sure it's me half the time. "This better NOT have anything to do with the Dreaming Moon. If it does, we're all DEAD. Might have something to do with all those weird plants that started growing, but the guards were supposed to handle them, along with the old man and Ella..." Finn-the-cat trails off.
"...I don't know where she is. Last I heard, she was going to meet with the old man to do something, and then everything went all WEIRD and suddenly I'm THIS." He waves a paw for emphasis, then plants it firmly on the serpent-dragon's head.
"Meanwhile, THIS guy is just FINE."

There was a weird rain of seeds and suddenly POW, plants growing everywhere, and then I'm a cat. The weird forest had nothing to do with it. Probably."
Despite the limits of the feline face, Finn scowls. "And I've been TRYING to find Ella ever since I got here. Everything's the SAME, though. I can't tell if we're going in circles or even moving at all!"

Aeromage wrote: Remalius makes his statement, followed by his uncertain-sounding offer of channeling the essence of the strange place directly into Finn.
"Wait, wha-" Finn begins to object.
Then Remalius does it anyway.

Remalius focuses the Dream Mana through himself, mixing and reflavouring it with his own Moon Mana. He succeeds in gathering up a seriously large amount of the stuff, pushing it through the focus of his connection to the currently-extremely-potent Verdant Moon holding sway over the area, his ability to make things applied with Moon Magic stick, his knowledge of Dream and what little he knows of Enchantment.
The ball of swirling mana-energy is then blasted directly into the small cat before him.

To say things don't go to plan would be assuming Remalius had approached the situation with any idea other than 'try to drain all of the area's mana into a Dream-shaped-and-altered-human' without having given much apparent thought to what this might do to its target.
His ability at Channeling is not great enough to drag the required XP from his surroundings, instead forcing it to come through him.
Moon's propensity for vexatiously sticking to things, combined with the tie to the dominant moon of the season, the use of an ability that explicitly changes one's form, the use of Dream in a Dream-world-like area and Remalius' inexpert knowledge of enchantment letting the place run away with the details, combined with a pinch of legend granted by his attempt to work Ancient Magic into the mix and enough magical know-how to at least make the original effect (directionless as it was) stable combine with Finn's connection to Felimber, his being caught utterly off-guard at Remalius' snap decision and Mura's focus being directed on battling the place's indirect warping from sending its master back into a non-lucid autopilot state.
As dreams tend to, the result takes on something of a life of its own.

The mana sweeps into the cat-Finn, enveloping him in a swirling ball of multicoloured mist and whirling leaves which tumbles slowly off Mura's head and drifts groundwards. Shortly after its descent, the interior begins to contract and glow with brilliant light, forming a vaguely cat-shaped light-silhouette.
The shape immediately begins to grow in size, altering in form and focus, filling out in bulk until it reaches roughly human proportions, whereupon the blinding light fades into nothingness, revealing Finn.

Well, mostly Finn.

Last time Remalius saw him, he certainly didn't have bright blue cat-eyes. Or cat ears with white-moss fur. He didn't have patches of white moss-fur on the rest of his body last time, either, and he most definitely didn't have some sort of white-moss cat-satyr thing going on with his lower body, complete with tail.
He was also rather more clothed when last they met.

Remalius loses 1,000,000 XP.
Remalius gains 1 Fame.
Remalius gains 'Acidentally Turned Finn Fein into an Aptim' (Mod Run World Award)

Finn looks at himself in a state of absolute shock.

Mura's serpentine neck whips around in alarm to see what has befallen its master.

A building to the right of the group erupts in a blast of misty-purple energy, leaves and rubble with a curious bell-like tone. In its place is revealed a strange, torn hole in space opening out into a sunny version of Pella with ornate shrines on every rooftop, a rather preturbed-looking dark-haired young man with a short beard in grey exorcist's robes standing at its fore, large ceramic alcohol bottle in one hand and a short rod with a tree-like arragnement of bells atop it in the other.
"Well, this is certainly unexpected, hm? What might be going on here?"
kitsune106 wrote: Remmie's orb turn bright pink.
"OOohhhh.. that's unexcepted."

If remmie's danger sense is tingling, he'll impose himself between Finn and Teh newcomer. If not, he bobs in midair.
"Trying to see if could alter this dream, or power him up. It.... seems to have worked. He has a better connection to this place then I do. Although... . . . . "
He blinks, not knowing what he just did, well, not knowing about Aptim.
Remmie readies an ancient seal of moonlight to blast if anyhtign befalls finn or him or mura.
"MAy I ask your name?"

Aeromage wrote: The young exorcist studies Remalius for a moment, turns his gaze to Finn and does an impressive double-take.
"Good heavens, is that you, Finn? I've certainly come to understand this place can change oneself, but to transform a human into one of the Aptim is considerably more severe than I would have expected of it, hm?"

Finn attempts to say something, but his state of shock appears to be preventing any words from coming out.

"Not to worry, not to worry, my boy. I'm certain once we get to the bottom of whatever happens to be the cause of this state of affairs that things will be set back to how they should, you see?" Stowing the bell-tree-instrument under one arm, the exorcist turns back to Remalius, using his free hand to scratch his beard.
"Calling it a dream would be somewhat accurate, I suppose, but then again not quite accurate enough, you see? But I'm afraid I'm rather digressing from the concerns at hand. I am Eji Expio, resident exorcist of Pella, or whatever remains of it given the situation presently underway. Given you appear to be a spirit more interested in conversation than conflict, perhaps you would do me the courtesy of telling me the name you go by, hm?"
Eji glances at Finn again.
"Followed by explaining what, precisely, you have done to the poor boy here and what your part in the present state of affairs is. You would do well to respond honestly, as I'm rather afraid my patience has been somewhat tried of late, you see?"

"The problem with being an Aptim is that they are the rather unnatural result of an ancient spirit's malign efforts to transform humanity into its own personal servants, beings that are themselves half-spirit, you see? Given spirits are, at best, self-interested entities that require pacification or control through careful diplomacy, bribery or binding and, rather more frequently, at worst outright hostile towards humankind, to say that things of their ilk are ill-favoured by the general population would be something of a great understatement, hm?"
The exorcist gestures sadly to Finn, who is presently holding his tail and tugging at it as if to see if it will come off.
"Aptim are given a similarly dim view, being pitied as spirit-cursed humans at best, or seen as inhuman creatures fallen to spiritual corruption and frequently treated as all but criminal miscreants. Not to say such things are true, of course, but when opinion flows so strongly in such ways, I'm rather afraid those it focuses on get swept in that direction, you see. Those that are able to find a place in society generally occupy the very lowest rungs of it, and those that have any sort of notable spiritual power frequently become bandits, vagabonds, or are taken by the Houses of the Order as servants." A hand tugs at his beard again. "Servants of the regrettably non-voluntary variety, you see?"

The young man undoes a sash and removes his outer robe, placing it over the shellshocked moss-cat-satyr's shoulders. "If I'm correct, however, this will prove to be some sort of spirit-created dream-world, so removing the spirit in question should undo the changes that may have affected the bodies of those within it, hm? As for the girl, from what I can tell from my own experience and crossing over to this place, it seems to be separating people into small groups or individual members and trapping them in different dreams. Had a similar experience with a rather persistant spirit in my youth, you see?" Eji taps the ceramic bottle against his leg thoughtfully. "Albeit rather less expansive than whatever's behind this, hm?"

Remalius summons up dice! He can't seem to make any sense of what they're rolling.

Eji clears his throat, stepping between the two. "Erhem. I believe it would be prudent to leave the poor boy be for now, given what he's just gone through, hm? Perhaps we should be looking to our surroundings to find some clue as to what, or where, the spirit causing this might be. Perhaps there's some similarities to be found between this area and the dream in which I found myself, eh? Or perhaps we might find passage to another place in order to rescue more of the townsfolk."

While he doesn't have any skills in botany, he's learned enough to figure that all the vines and plants that he can see seem to be connected to one another (as is the case with many trailing vine-like plants) and growing mostly in a single direction, most probably coming from further down one of the streets.

He also notices that the hole young-Eji broke in the dreamscape seems to have vines growing into it as if they were always there.

The endless rows of houses surrounding the crater momentarily blur out of focus before abruptly snapping back to normal. Remalius is, by now, certain this plant is the cause of this strange dream-realm, further cottons on to the fact that it's likely holding the various sentient inhabitants that its physical-world form encountered in separate pocket-dreams tied together by its vines, and thinks he may have temporarily disrupted whatever it is that was going on here, but not for long enough to allow him to capitalise on anything.

The two vines that were sawed through collapse in on themselves from the cut outwards into a mass of dead petals and crumbling leaves, the decay rapidly travelling along their length towards the endless housing-rows. The resultant piles of dead foliage further crumble into dust and vanish shortly afterwards.

While he certainly has the power for it, his finesse leaves something to be desired.

The shimmering, circular form of the Ancient Seal cuts itself into the air above the crater with lines of fire, erratically wavering and shifting as the spell battles to hold itself together. The burning seal drops into the plant, turning the petal-storm into a sheet of fire, destabilising and hitting the central mass of foliage as a large fireball.

Most of the clouds of foliage were supported by smaller branches that forked into complicated systems of ever-smaller twigs, the majority of which are burning away. He's presently in the middle of a wide, stone-paved road, in moon-orb form, with a large variety of typically diverse and esoteric pedestrians walking, rolling, floating and otherwise perambulating around him. The buildings are all three-storey affairs made of light stone, several of them being shops, with the occasional residential building or block of flats in between, all of which have large windows and a multitude of flowerboxes.
A café takes up a large chunk of the road near where the spell-moon-ball-genie floats, its tables and chairs in the open-air section filled with customers, all of whom appear to be eating cakes of some description and drinking steaming beverages. A bakery next door is similarly doing a roaring trade, a white-aproned baker carrying a tray piled high with more cakes from it into the café's interior.
A bookshop, electronics store, greengrocer, florist, hair salon, 'Aeryth Vyxx's Magical Resynchronisation Spa And Grill', a sort of travel agency specialising entirely in holidays inside whales and a shop with a sign made of signs about signs are also in Remalius' immediate vicinity.

It's slow going at first, as the moon-genie-spell-thing hits random parts of the central vineball, but he eventually finds that focusing on the trunk-vines radiating out of the central mass is far more effective. Blasting through a vine makes the rest of it rapidly decay into dead petals and dust, much as the ones the Killborg blasted did, and destroying enough neighbouring vines cause the houses visible over the rim of the crater to flicker and waver in and out of view.

Having gotten into the swing of things, Remalius continues around the central vineball, blasting trunk after trunk asunder, scattering the vines to ash and further destabilishing the visible houses. Partway through his terminal pruning session, the Killborg pops back into being, having apparently been freed from wherever it was when Remalius destroyed the vines near where it vanished.

As Remalius destroys the final vine growing into the crater from the centre, the by-now-seriously-distorted houses visible from his location vanish into nothingness. The rippling sky of leaves seems to descend, making the crater feel curiously claustrophobic.

Remalius and the Killborg are left facing the central vineball in the middle of an otherwise empty, dust-blown crater.

Remalius gets:

Eventually, Remalius reaches the core of the thing, blasting the green, sap-filled central knot of fibrous tendrils from its position atop the roots, which immediately wither to nothingness.

The world around Remalius swirls, judders, and swoops in on itself, collapsing and draining through the hole left by the absent taproot. Everything goes fuzzy.

Remalius comes to his senses in what was presumably once a small park, now flooded under a foot of water and overgrown with a riotous variety of varicoloured and oddly-shaped plantlife. Thick trees thrust from below the murky pool, blotting out the sky and obscuring the area beyond, except for an overgrown stretch of wall here or a tangled railing there. A fibrous mass of green roots the size of a basketball bobs gently on the water's surface.

Sounds of alarm and general confusion echo from outside.

He floats up and away from the trees, to see... not much. It seems that during Remalius' time in the dream-world, it has become night in the real world- an extremely dark one at that, with no moon or stars visible. Presumably the thick clouds are obscuring any light that would otherwise filter through.

The occasional light can be seen winking in and out of sight, often vanishing behind some obstacle or other as the shouts and yells continue. The rushing of Pella's waterfall sounds rather louder than it would otherwise- likely due to the giant leaves he saw on entering the town earlier redirecting some of its flow to the streets beyond.

This does absolutely nothing to reassure the group of townsfolk presently attempting to build a makeshift dam to redivert the flood of water from the main road, causing many of them to drop the various pieces of furniture and wood they were carrying and flee as fast as the rapid flow of water allows. Two of them get swept off their feet as a result, and get washed away down the road, which has turned into something akin to a curvy white-water ride.

This doesn't do too much, as the water itself isn't exactly an opposing entity, per se, but by lowering himself towards the rushing torrent he's able to get it slowed enough to fire up a slightly-altered Ancient Seal of Moonlight that won't be washed away.
The familiar glimmering sigils coalesce into a shining barrier of moonlight that the spell-genie successfully places in the path of the rush of water, managing to push it all the way back to the edge of the bridge and forcing it to plunge into the waterfall basin instead. Remalius thinks it will hold for a few hours, at least, which should give enough time to deal with the giant leaves that are causing the problem in the first place.
The main road is now considerably less treacherous to navigate... at least in this part of the town.
kitsune106 wrote: Remmie will take to the air. TRying ot use his newfound ability for pruning to go leaf hunting and prunning.
Aeromage wrote: Remalius sets off into the air once more! The most obvious leaf-releated problems are coming from the waterfall, where giant stalks have grown up from its basin, and huge, waxy leaves the size of houses have sprouted, weathering the crushing torrent with barely more than a slight bobbing movement and causing water to cascade off them and onto the walkways and roads below. Thanks to Remalius' seal, the water is no longer flowing down the main road on the eastern side of the bridge below the waterfall, but the western side is still a hazardous mass of rivers and falls in its own right, the steep stairways, walkways and side roads all completely flooded as a result.

Aeromage wrote: Remalius and the Killborg take the offensive once more, Remalius blasting the huge stalks with magic, the Killborg opting to shoot buzzsaw-blades at the things instead.
The moon-blasts aren't able to set the things aflame (especially given the sheer amount of water present), but between them the two manage to chop the leaves and stalks into managable chunks to get washed away down the river, cutting off the diverted flow of water and restoring the waterfall to its natural course. The rivers and waterfalls that the roads and walkways had become soon dry up to barely more than trickles, making the town far easier to navigate on foot as a whole.

Remalius gets 50,000 XP for dealing with what would have otherwise been an extremely difficult obstacle for the townspeople to overcome.

From what Remalus can recall before being dragged into the dreamworld, other parts of the town had become extremely overgrown, with some very large trees having sprouted between houses. The most obvious problems seem to have been dealt with, however.

Unfortunately, the town is still too dark for him to really see individuals, and the few townsfolk he manages to find carrying lanterns are decidedly not the old exorcist, young shrine maiden, or fisherman.
Instead, he manages to surprise, in turn, a group of young men attempting to haul a cartful of sacks and wood up the slippery main road, two women rushing from house to house with bundles of candles, several townsfolk running towards the river with rope and nets, an absolutely livid-looking Mr. Fein baling out his shop with a bucket, and what appear to be two broom-weilding martial artists in identical red uniforms sweeping excess water into drains, who immediately drop into identical martial stances at the genie's arrival.

We have not, however, seen the exorcist or the shrine maiden since returning to reality from the strange prison we were held in. Our efforts have been focused on helping clear the town of debris and ensuring no rogue spirits entered during our incarceration."

"Are thre any other flooding things I can help with? I removed several leaves and trunks blocking the dam. And there was this doing something odd."

He leviates the rootball out.

"We would light them ourselves," the right-hand one states, grabbing a fallen tree by a branch and dragging it out of the doorway in which it was wedged, her broom tucked under one arm, "But we have reason to believe that any invading spirits would have been washed into this lower part of the town. We therefore cannot leave it until we are assured of its safety."

Aeromage wrote: "We have little need for such assistance," the male martial artist states, tapping his lantern by way of elaboration. "Instead, focus your attention on those that would benefit."

Remalius flies around town, lighting the stone lanterns and lamp-posts that border the roads, and making small objects (and in some cases, a few animals) glow. His turning a hurrying man with an armful of boxes into a human glow-stick is received somewhat poorly, however, dissuading the genie from attempting it on any other people.

With the additional light, Remalius can see that the town's pretty badly overgrown in places, with small parks becoming highly compact forests, a few squares and streets having had unusual trees grow out of them, some blocking parts of the town off entirely. One building seems to have been completely overgrown with an ivy-type plant, which has already spread to neighbouring houses, and a corkscrew-shaped beanstalk has wound its way out of someone's chimney.

A muffled explosion sounds from one of the small patches of forest.
kitsune106 wrote: remmie is about to go take care of the ivy when teh explosion happens. The takes prescident. He hurries towards teh explosion, taking stock of his mana supply. He readies an ancient seal of moonlight for w hen its needed! it will be made solely moon element.

He hurries towards the scene of the explosion! One of the thick, forested areas is currently belching smoke and flame. Upon entering, the reason soon becomes apparent- the Killborg, or what's left of it, has been destroyed, parts of it still in the clutches of something that looks like a cross between a spindly, tangled mass of branches and an upside-down spider with far too many legs with far too many joints growing out of a hole sunk into the ground. The horrible thing is flailing its branch-limbs about, smashing the remains of the Killborg and crushing trees and plants within its reach.
kitsune106 wrote: (question, how big is the spider? how far away? and how injured does it look?)
Aeromage wrote: The spidery branches flailing around have a reach of a good ten metres or so. Thankfully, the forested area it's in is quite large. Presumably this was a square or crossroads of some kind. Or maybe a couple of buildings have fallen in.

A couple of its branch-leg-things are broken, and some of it looks scorched, but Remalius isn't skilled enough at botany to gauge its overall health. Presumably the clash with the Killborg took some sort of toll on it, though.
kitsune106 wrote: Remalius can't let it stay there. the spell genie might be overmatched but...
His orbs flutter in their orbit before it focuses and unleasehs the fire element ancient seal of moonlight again. TARGET: The spider!
Aeromage wrote: Remalius unleashes ancient magics, the familiar glimmering seal of moonlight taking form and rushing towards the spindly branched thing!

The thing, despite having no obvious means of seeing or sensing the impending assault, ceases its horrible flailing with four limbs that, as one, lance into the incoming spell and, with horrible, deft precision, tear the form of the magic to shreds.

One of its other many-jointed limb-branches stabs into the once-paved ground below a tree. Either this was a feint or its method of attack is naturally unpredictable, as Remalius finds to his chagrin as a horrible multi-jointed branch-spear erupts from a tree beside him and tears straight through his form, dealing heavy damage. Remalius feels like his maximum MP has taken a serious hit, too.

The genie channels mana down through the thing's branch-leg thing, spending what MP he can to summon up a weak Ancient Wind, but the result is little more than minor splintering and cracking of the bark exterior, the rest of the mana draining away through the appendage.

The thing's branch-legs extend what appear, at first glance, to be thorns, but rapidly grow into additional too-many-jointed minilegs, giving the impression of being impaled on a horrific squirming wooden millipede. Fortunately, Remalius is able to use the twisting and flailing that the main leg goes through as a result to escape his impaled status and back away from the leg's range.

One of the legs makes a stabbing motion towards Remalius, the top joint firing off from its limb and spearing the genie as he engages evasive manouevres. Remalius takes moderate damage and feels his max MP take even more of a hit as the thing's mana-tearing properties take hold.

Remalius himself feels as if he's being torn to pieces, his essence tearing and fragmenting under the assault.
Before he can even react to the assault, several branch-spears erupt from the dead bodies of the fallen ninja, piercing Remalius in several places and ripping him open.

Remalius wakes up in the Arena Clerical Ward. Fortunately, he seems to still have all his stuff with him.

Remalius gets:
'Assisted the Town of Pella in Recovering from the Aftermath of the Giant Somnidus Vine Incursion (Mod Run World Award)'
'Killed by a Lesser Mana-Eating Vergasent in Pella (Mod Run World Award)'

Unwitting Enemy of Finn Fein- (Passive Ability, Curse) Possessor may not be on the same side of battle as individuals named 'Finn Fein', Whenever an individual named 'Finn Fein' damages possessor, that individual deals 5,000 additional points of HP or MP damage to possessor, individuals named 'Finn Fein' gain +200 to all stats if possessor is on an opposing side of battle from them

(I'm also considering this as a possible Friendship ability, although given the 'enemy' bit...)

That's all approved. Looking over the items and abilities.

I'll let you pick which you want it to be between Friendship and Curse. I lean towards Friendship, as Friendship would be harder to magically remove with anti-curse methods and would require social methods more often, and it fits the 'interpersonal connection established with a particular individual' aspect of many Friendship abilities.

I'm binding it since it doesn't seem like it'd be used off-world, and that'd prevent off-world combo weirdness.
