Darston proceeds to Bascaradine

Post by Santooth »

He's got one very clear request here to patch a glaring, hitherto-unknown hole in his build. He wants an item that allows him to prevent things from removing buffs from him.

He'd like a quote for:

-An item that'll work on things below level 99 and prevent the removal of buffs with him as a source.

Failing that

-An item that'll work on things his level +5 or below and prevent the removal of buffs with him as a source.

Failing that

-An item that'll work on things his level or below and prevent the removal of buffs with him as a source.

If base-those don't work but something with some restrictions does, the item can only apply to buffs he applies to himself. If that doesn't help, the item can be restricted to buffs applied at the start of battle. If everything buff-protection-related is suddenly many billions of gold, he will somewhat exacerbatedly as to speak with a manager.

To clarify this slightly, "Item" can take the form of an ability or something more obscure and obtuse if need be.

No. That's (by my current reckoning) like some sort of high-level artifact for a support-spec character.
-An item that'll work on things his level +5 or below and prevent the removal of buffs with him as a source.
Still no. Probably exists as an Ascendant ability. There'd be spell-subtype-specific versions of it floating deeper in some of the spell classes.
-An item that'll work on things his level or below and prevent the removal of buffs with him as a source.
Still no. Closer to possible. I give it moderate odds of just randomly showing up at some point as a warehouse drop or quest reward or something.
If base-those don't work but something with some restrictions does, the item can only apply to buffs he applies to himself. If that doesn't help, the item can be restricted to buffs applied at the start of battle.
Now we're talking.

Before I try to hash this out, do you have a specific list of your start-of-battle abilities that you want covered by this? It's almost guaranteed to be cheaper and less-restricted in other ways (Level, for instance) if you get a specific list of what you don't want debuffed.

I don't have a real problem stopping things from turning off some of Darston's passives. I just don't want him to suddenly become the best support character on the site by virtue of removing a major enemy-toolbox trick.

Octopod Multiwielding- (Passive Ability, Seakeeper) If possessor is an Aquatic and is in the 'Form of Octopus' stance, possessor may, at the start of a thread, exchange up to 8 Accessory slots for Weapon slots, to a max of 8 total weapon slots
Mr. Gray- (Passive Ability, Monk) Possessor gains +500 unmodified STR and +500 unmodified CON, Possessor gains +50,000 HP, Possessor is immune to STR Damage and CON Damage from lower Level sources that are below Level 100, Possessor may choose, at the beginning of any thread, to gain up to 5 entity subtypes that possessor possesses abilities named 'Assumption of the Essence of the <Subtype Name Here>' for

Those are the two essential ones that largely hold his build together. It'd be nice to get other things but they aren't really required, per say.

Let's start with the easy one.

Permanently Mr. Gray- (Passive Ability, Monk) Possessor's buff from the ability 'Mr. Gray' cannot be removed by sources below Level 99 and does not occupy a buff slot

5,000,000 on that, because it's a personal ability that wasn't intended to have that as some huge Achilles heel. It's much less-ironclad in RP threads, but also much less devastating to your build to have something rip off a random subtype for a bit there.

Mulling the wording I want for the octopus.

Octopus Battle-Dance- (Passive Ability, Seakeeper) If possessor either is an Aquatic and starts a round in 'Form of Octopus' stance, or possessor is an Aquatic and enters 'Form of Octopus' stance, possessor may choose, in a non-stacking manner, to obtain the buff provided by possessor's 'Octopod Multiwielding' ability, performing the associated slot-conversion while doing so and then, upon doing so, may equip carried items into those slots that would normally be equippable in those slots. Possessor, if an Aquatic and in 'Form of Octopus' stance, may not have possessor's 'Octopod Multiwielding' buff removed by equal or lower-Level sources below Level 99 unless wielder is afflicted with Wounded: Maimed.

30,000,000 Gold for that one.

Darston'll pick that up too. If this Boss Rush crystalizes, there might be another "buy spells" thread or something but we can deal with that then if there is.
