The Doctor has REVELATION! He sees the previous events in a new light, and scours the insidious clues from his mindscape (and, with them, the budding Obsession that was planted in there). Infusing his finger with Will, tying in Monk and Mentalist, he gives Sparrow Magnum, PI a solid flick to the forehead. With this to aid him the superhero fights the brainwashing effects off admirably. He remembers his past, remembers who it is, and shakes the lingering effects placed on him off with a yell. Emotions quickly flit across his face. He looks grateful, then abashed, then worried, then angry. His eyes narrow and he unholsters his gun.

"I want my wings back."

The Doctor considers how to fight Enigma Men from the information he's aware of. They work of Mystery, varying degrees of mind control, and tend to have both multiple identities and esoteric powers. Getting a successful scan off on the guy would help shut most of his nastiest powers off, but that seems challenging for the moment considering how spec'd those sorts tend to be in hiding the truth of their identity. Truth will help some there, but that isn't a silver bullet. As to the mind control, Will is just about the best weapon he could ask for (and, he suspects, what let him snap out of the scenario).

This guy seems able to punish those breaking arbitrary rules he sets, though. That's something else entirely, and reasonably dangerous. The Doctor will have to make a choice between breaking the rules intentionally and weathering the backlash until he can Evolve his own defenses against them or trying to work around the guy's tricks with esoteric powers of his own if he wants to beat him head on in battle. The guy's powerset seems wider in scale than the Doctor's own; he has, from everything the Doctor can tell, the entire planet under his sway to one extent or another.

Reproducing the Eternal Pyre's powers would give him a tremendous edge here, but I'm not immediately seeing how this could be done. That would require a strong combination of Fire and Psychic, with either Destruction or Devastation helping a fair bit in providing the added destructiveness the artifact gave it. He could use the Wishcarp to wish in some comparable magic, but that would be at the general power of the Wishcarp rather than the power of an Artifact.

The Doctor sets his shoulders, his hat, his eyebrows and various other parts of his anatomy in preparation! Inside his head, the clones equip the remaining gear between themselves.

The Enigma Man has certainly tried to stack the deck in his favour. The Doctor has, thusfar, been playing the part he was given. Tiptoeing around the restrictions is likely to just let the guy swing things to his advantage early, or attempt to banish the Doctor entirely once he realises the wrench in his plans has resurfaced. As such, the best way to deal with matters is to play to his own strengths of being surprising and weird, and open up with with a surprising, overwhelming offensive capable of disrupting the Enigma Man's hold over reality, disrupting his ongoing effects, and burning through to the heart of the matter.

He isn't Lili. He doesn't have the Eternal Pyre.

He is nothing if not inventive, however. If not the Pyre, why not something inspired by the Pyre? He has all the tools he needs at hand.

The Clones have been inside his own personal Mindscape, saturated by Will, and combining their power through unified thought. More than enough to pull off some Fancy Combo Techniques.

The Enigma Man, likely emboldened by things going his way thusfar, is expecting Sparrow Magnum, PI and possibly some other mundane detectives to arrive alone and face off against him in genre-appropriate combat.

The moment King Bears or whatever sham of an identity he is purporting to be comes into sight, all three Doctors simultaneously Overdrive with a variety of spell that is most definitely designed to work in parallel with others of its type.

A third Clone is budded off inside the Doctor's head, and immediately pins a Zone of Darkness to itself.

The Doctor simultaneously deploys his clones!

The third clone uses a Bottled Moondouble on the Doctor, granting him an action!

The Doctor Overdrives Parallel Mageblast: Mystic Disruption, burning the Zone of Moon he had inside his head as ooze-support to add the element to the spell, assisted by his Adept Chaos synchronization.
The Minor it inflicts is instead a Moderate, and playing to the Doctor's strengths, it will be Charm (aided by his many, many Charm-boosting sources and his status as a Divine Bride of Mecha-Vashna).
That isn't the main thrust of the effect, however- simply something to distract his opponent for a moment. It additionally carries the means of Burning. Through the addition of Moon, it becomes a Blaze Which Burns Away All Veils and Pretensions.

The effects in play are disrupted. The fire that burns away the Enigma Man's twisted truth is lit.

The first Doctor-Clone Overdrives Parallel Mageblast: Rengineer Reality, saturated with the Will of the Mindscape and link to the other Doctors, going off in parallel with the Mystic Disruption and combining with it. The Enigma Man's twisting of reality needs to be corrected.

The twisted reality is re-engineered.
Will opposes Nobility, added to the blaze.
Buffs that may have been present on the Doctor's opponent are instead moved to him as the foundation of local reality is struck.

The second Doctor-Clone Overdrives Parallel Mageblast: Rengineer Reality, filling it instead with pure Chaos, going off in parallel with other Parallel Mageblasts and combining with it.

The twisted reality is re-engineered.
Chaos opposes Law, added to the blaze.
Additional buffs that may have been present on the Doctor's opponent are instead moved to him as the foundation of local reality is struck.

The Eternal Pyre is an artifact born of Fire and Psychic, geared towards Destruction.
The Doctor's combined technique is tailored against the Enigma Man- a Pyre that burns away lies, fuelled by Will, carrying Destruction from its components, and throwing the careful plans into Chaos.

And if the hammering on reality happens to break through to the prior version, with everything else in it? So much the better.

The Doctor sets his shoulders, his hat, his eyebrows and various other parts of his anatomy in preparation! Inside his head, the clones equip the remaining gear between themselves.

He thinks to himself, about a Pyre which consumes knowledge and thought. That sure would be useful against an Enigma Man manipulating information like this, wouldn't it? Why not imitate that?

The Doctor buds off another clone, then mass-deploys the lot of them along with the Mindscape, Zone of Moon, and Zone of Darkness which phase into place around him. Local reality goes squiggly and then snaps into weird-mode to reflects the thoughts of the doctor. Colors are both more vibrant than before and stranger than before. That very clearly isn't consistent with the genre; announcements ring throughout the place, muted to all but those who they are aimed at, and phantasmal guillotines phase into place around each of the clones and the Doctor himself. They scythe down with deadly force, only to be blocked by the Magellan's Forcefield each of them carry. The Doctor's the one with the initiative here, and knew what to expect. He pushes on with his assault.

The third clone, trailing Darkness, hits the main Doctor with a Bottled Moondouble. Another Guillotine phases into place above it, swings down, breaks through the Global Defense Grid, and slices the (not-fully-equipped) summon in half. It dies, and its gear disappears.

The Doctor, on his second action, overdrives a Parallel Mageblast: Mystic Disruption at the Wood, feeding what remains of that Zone of Moon within his head into it to infuse it with the element Moon. The attack disappears into the darkness, initially appearing to have no effect before detonating deep in its depths. The Wood burns with a Blaze Which Burns Away All Veils And Pretensions. Stacked effects on reality start dropping as the Manse at the core of one of this Enigma Man's identities start shedding the buffs holding the world together. The guillotine over the Doctor's head scythes down, breaks through the Global Defense Grid again, and decapitates him. Between his accrued resistances and being an Abstract Ooze (among his various parts) this is less fatal than usual but he still takes very high damage, is reduced to about two thirds health, and is somewhat thrown by the power of the attack. Oozes spray from his neck, each also getting its own Guillotine which come down on them before they can act.

The chain-attack isn't over yet, though. That was just the opener.

The first clone overdrives Parallel Mageblast: Rengineer Reality just a hair after the Doctor, saturating the attack with Will and bleeding this over to the localized Mindscape. Will battles with Nobility, refusing to bend to the arbitrary and artificial rules of the ruler of these lands as the missile flies into the woods. Reality is re-engineered. Ownership effects transfer to the Doctor, empowering his bubble of Mindscape and reinforcing the permanence and reality of it. The woods burn green as well as red, now. Another Guillotine phases into place and scythes down, killing the second clone. It dies, but quickly flares back to life as the Phoenix-Feather Cloak kicks into gear and brings it back. The cloak goes a dull grey, it's power expended.

The attack continues with the second clone overdriving a Parallel Mageblast: Rengineer Reality even as the first clone falls, infusing it with pure Chaos. Law is opposed by its opposite, which refuses to bend to the whims of that oppressive element. This, too, streaks into the woods. Reality is re-engineered. Ownership effects transfer to the Doctor, empowering his bubble of Mindscape and reinforcing the permanence and reality of it. The woods burn with every color of the rainbow and more besides. The familiar Guillotine phases into place and scythes down on the second clone. Eight progressive versions of this same effect have hit an Evolution-focused summon. It soaks the hit, taking high damage and summoning further oozes. Guillotines hit each of them, with two of the five managing to survive it.

A pronouncement rings out from the city's center.

"LET IT BE KNOWN! HENCEFORTH THE INDIVIDUAL KNOWN AS VISCOUS PHYSICIAN, CURRENT ALIAS DETECTIVE M, SHALL BE EJECTED FROM THIS SPACE AND FOREVER BANISHED FROM THESE LANDS! SO IT IS WRITTEN, SO IT SHALL BE!"

Nothing happens. That was just a part he was playing, not his actual name. This Proclamation does not apply to the Doctor.

A group of sleek, predatory creatures burst out of the waters to the west of the city and streak towards the fight. They are reptilian, with burning yellow eyes, sharp teeth, and long, wicked looking claws. There are nine in total, and the figure at their head appears larger and stronger than the others.

All of the sudden the flames on the woods vanish as a great stillness settles over the place. They don't flicker out; they simply cease to be. A deep, female voice rolls out from those Woods, the monster from a thousand children's stories. Shivers run down the Doctor's spine despite himself.

"Twice you have interfered. I offer you this one chance, now. Leave in peace. Take back the items you have lost, take the hero. Leave this place and never return or fight us and see what terrors hide in the dark places within stories."

Sparrow Magnum looks nervously to Doctor MIRACLES for direction.

The Doctor's head spins in place and gives Sparrow Magnum a wink.

The King has tried to oust him from this world, twice over. The presence in the woods is trying to get him to leave in the guise of a threat, desperately (not that it would let on) trying to barter with what is already his.

They are scared of him.

Besides, just leaving would be boring. It's not his style, and he's fairly sure it's not the style of who he thinks has been involved in steering him into this situation in the first place.

Clone 1 invokes the power of Global Defense (Geomantic Variant) to prepare for what is to come. The Doctor and his allies are immediately surrounded with a shockingly potent shield that not only protects them, but can reflect incoming actions and deal massive backlash-damage to aggressors.
The Geomantic nature of the spell links up with the Mindscape and Global Shielding System, thrumming with enforced power, Will, and Chaos.

Clone 2 applies an Expert Alchemist's Eternal Restorative to the Doctor, healing him, granting him regeneration, and eternally-applying Favoured to the man! Genres have been defied, and luck is now firmly on his side!
But that's not all! He used it with his ability to Catalyze Ineffable Curative! The spell is massively boosted and now carries its anti-debuff and anti-negative-status effect with it!

In form of a response, the Doctor produces a brilliantly-glowing bottle from his pocket, plucks the feather from his rhinestone-encrusted hat, dips it in the fluid and writes a phrase in beautifully-calligraphied Foreign in the air before him.

"I say to YOU and YOU and THE FACES OF YOURSELF THE NO!"

The already-incandescent text flares into searing, explosive life! He's a master of Explosive Calligraphy, and the chosen vector is the Solar Alchemical Bomb, infused with pure Chaos, and carrying the force of Will from the Mindscape!

What has happened before, will happen again.

The woods, darkened, immediately erupt again into a towering pillar-conflagration brighter and more brilliant than the blaze before it as immense light and power erupt from the text he wrote!

He twirls the quill in his hand and winks again. It wasn't a feather. It wasn't a feather at all! It was his Echidna Quill, and it is scouring the Enigma Man's summoned backup from the world, along with its ability to ever summon again!

An Enigma Man's greatest strength lies in getting other people to support and build on its powers by investigating them.
Ah, but Investigating The Enigma Men is a debuff, and the Solar Alchemical Bomb's eruptive light scours debuffs from anyone and everyone the Doctor might consider an ally!

Which, in this case, happens to be all of the unfortunate victims to this city-spanning ploy, who can't help but bear witness to the immense radiance that splits the twilight.

There will likely be reprisals from guillotines. Ah, but that is now played out. The Doctor has observed it, felt it, far too many times before. Through Evolution and force of Will and power of Chaos, their effectiveness becomes lower and lower with each attempt. And now, with the Global Defense in play, each attempt will not only enact harsh and extremely damaging retribution on its source, but contain a chance of outright reflecting it back at its caster.
Nobles really should be careful about playing with guillotines.

Perhaps the King will attempt to utter a Proclamation against him once more. Ah, but that, too, is played out. Twice he has proclaimed, and twice the Doctor has defied. The Doctor will not be beholden to such rules, for none can constrain his turbo-weird. Besides which, the effect has clearly become lessened each time! First it temporarily booted him from the area, and then failed altogether. Through Will and Evolution and Chaos combined, he has become sufficiently immune to that rule of law's sway over him.

And on top of all of this, it's always the City this, the City that. But the Doctor has twofold wrested ownership of the area through re-engineered reality, and made it his Mindscape, besides. That approach will cut no further mustard!

Oozes bud off, and oozes launch powerful attacks against the Woods, or, if they managed to avoid being scoured, the incoming predator-swarm. This may be met with guillotines which, as has been established above, would be an incredibly bad idea for its source.

The Doctor's head spins in place and gives Sparrow Magnum a wink.

Clone 1 invokes the power of the powerful Global Defense (Geomantic Variant) to prepare for what's to come. A geomantic defense grid settles onto the Mindscape, as remaining Global Shielding System links up. The field itself cackles with Will, Chaos, and an undercurrent of Evolution.

Clone 2 applies an Expert Alchemist's Eternal Restorative boosted by Catalyze Ineffable Curative to the Doctor, healing him, granting him regeneration, and continuously applying Favored. He sheds his growing Fear of the voice from the woods. He is Doctor MIRACLES! He isn't afraid of a couple trees.

The Doctor, sure now that he has his opponent on the ropes, produces a brilliantly-glowing bottle from his pocket, plucks the feather from his rhinestone-encrusted hat, dips it in the fluid and writes a phrase in beautifully-calligraphed Foreign in the air before him.

"I say to YOU and YOU and THE FACES OF YOURSELF THE NO!"

The text flares to life as he tosses it at the Woods. As it crosses the perimeter of the Doctor's mindscape, it almost immediately meets with an uncomfortably familiar forcefield as a pair of Global Shielding Systems flare to life to slow the projectile. The Doctor feels deep geomancy slowly wake across the land, the equal of his own. As the explosion starts to unfold an impossibly long, gnarled, semi-human hand stretches out from the woods and snatches the scrap out of the air. Those long fingers grasp the explosion, clench, and re-condense it into the paper which fizzles briefly before going out. Thin trails of smoke curl up from between the thin grey fingers and poorly manicured nails. (The Doctor gets the feeling that hurt her more than she is letting on, but that she heavily resisted the attack rather than no-selling it entirely as things look.)

The rumbling voice echoes out of the Woods once more.

"Using alchemy against the Witch of the Woods? Daring, if not wiiise."

There's a huffing sound, maybe a laugh?

"My pretty, I think you misunderstood our positions so I will make you my offer again in more detail. This whole planet and everything on it are my gaaarden. I grew them, as I grew myself. The King is my puuuppet, poppet. I ensnared the hero to amuse myself; take him if you like, a gift. I could cruuush you, but respect your powers. I would lose a piece of myself in the effort, I think. Not wooorth the bony meal. Go, and leave me be. We are both Immortals, beyond this petty place. Let us part as frieeends, yes? This old woman could teach you a triiick or two, I think?"

Oozes bud off the Doctors in droves (and at his discretion may start to assemble into units).

The reptilian creatures reach the Mindscape and begin to circle. The Doctor senses a law-based ward spring up around the city center.

Global Shielding Systems and equivalent Geomancy?

Ah, now it makes sense.

The Enigma Man has taken control of the previous pair of MINICLES and MAGNUMCLES, and is using their power to bolster its own, pretending that it is its own power.

Well, that won't do. That won't do at all.

It may have reckoned with the Doctor's Alchemy, but he has many other sources of power. One of which most definitely gave the Enigma Man trouble in the past.
One that has proven to be sufficiently weird and effective before.
It is the (weirdly, repeatedly useful) power of Not Bees.

And the clone-Doctors MINICLES and MAGNUMCLES are definitely Not Bees. Many, many other things, for sure, but Not Bees.

And the Enigma Man, like so many others, like even the almighty Kriele and Harkala, have discounted it as too esoteric and useless to be worth consideration.

That is the Enigma Man's greatest mistake.

The Doctor-squad poses sexily! They wink even more sexily! They proceed to engage in a flamboyantly dramatic manouevre that sees Clones 1 and 2 reach out, hands on their hearts, other hands outstretched as if to offer something!
...and then they pull.

MAGNUMCLES and MINICLES are, as previously mentioned, definitely Not Bees. They are also not bees. They are, in fact, everything that isn't bees.

And so, coming as they originally did from the Doctor (who is also Not Bees), and previously being summoned and owned by him, it is simplicity itself to take them back.

Especially when the Doctor holds a power such as Grab Thing that Isn't a Bee.

On the offchance it doesn't have MINICLES and MAGNUMCLES? Well, there are plenty of its minions hanging around here. And they certainly aren't bees, either.

As if to add insult to injury, the Doctor follows things up by charging a Parallel Mageblast: Rengineer Reality with pure Evolution and blasting it directly at the Witch of the Woods and contingent reptilian brigade, both to throw them offbalance, to build on and improve the previous Re-engineerings of Reality, and to inflict terrible devolution upon them. Possibly in the form of aggressively hideous manicures.
In fact, why leave things at that? The genre convention has gone out the window! It's time to bring back the Superheroics! The Doctor will amp the Parallel Mageblast with his Energy Projection abilities!

First thing's first; getting those clones and their equipment back!

The Doctor-squad pose sexily! They wink even more sexily! They engage in a flamboyantly dramatic maneuverer that sees Clones 1 and 2 reach out, hands on their hearts, other hands outstretched as if to offer something!
...and then they pull!

The pair feel something with the same sense as their lost compatriots, directing their efforts towards that. There's an awful clanging sound as a large pot is yanked out of the woods and into the Mindspace bubble. Several bones tumble out of it, dripping with the leavings of a stew.

MINICLES and MAGNUMCLES sure don't look to be alive any more. They look like they were quite thoroughly cooked, their essence drained out of them. Easier for the Doctor to just summon more than to revive those two.

There's a cackling sound from the woods. Sparrow Magnum looks terrified. The Doctor and his clones resist the fear effect.

Guillotines attempt to manifest within the Mindscape, but Chaos weakens the Law-based pronouncement and the evolved defences of the Mind-powered realm batter them apart before they can harm anyone.

"Shaaame. Well, sometimes you need to craaack an egg..."

There's a sickening snapping sound like huge bones breaking. Black energy whose purpose the Doctor isn't able to immediately determine streams from the Woods and settles itself like a cocoon layered around the outside of the Mindscape, obscuring his view of events past this bubble.

Before the veil has time to settle into place, the Doctor fires off a pure Evolution element Parallel Mageblast: Rengineer Reality from his outstretched hands at the Woods and contingent reptilians. The shot at the Woods hits the pair of Global Shielding Systems, still apparently quite active elsewhere, along with some other magic behind it. The shot punches through the Global Shielding Systems, weakened slightly, before briefly warring with this additional barrier. The barrier wins, and the blast goes shooting up into the sky. The Doctor pivots, still firing a stream, and sends it at the group of reptilian monsters. Most dodge but three of them are caught by the beam and turned quite suddenly back into ordinary (and very confused looking) humans. At this point the dome completely engulfs the Mindscape.

Various oozes funnel out of the Doctors.

A pronouncement rings out clearly audible through the dome of blackness surrounding the Mindscape.

"LET IT BE KNOWN! HENCEFORTH, REPTILES SHALL BE CONSIDERED TO BE OUTSIDE THE BOUNDS OF STANDARD ENTITIES AND TREATED AS SUCH! SO IT IS WRITTEN, SO IT SHALL BE!"

Oozes from the last round blast torrents of energy outside the Mindscape, aiming at where the reptiles were. They disappear into the black and it's not clear what happened to them.

Sparrow Magnum, PI looks at Dr. MIRACLES with wide eyes as he levels his gun and sweeps the interior of the space.

"Wow! This is a little much for me, partner. I've got your back, though! Let me know what you'd like me doing and I'll do it!"

Actions for the next round?

Things are ramping up. It is very much time to take it to the NEXT LEVEL.

Oozes bud off! Some of them are Lunar Revelation Oozes. This is important.

The Witch is using MAGICAL FOULNESS of EVIL and DARK to surround his stronghold! The Doctor clearly needs to put a stop to this.

He therefore needs to have his personal space undergo THE FURTHER IMPROVE!

It needs to become something with just as much force of Will as his Mindscape. Something tilted towards the Chaotic. Something that keys into his Evolution. Something with far greater power.

His thoughts shift, and his Mindscape shifts with it. Colours grow yet more vivid, flaking off and becoming a drifting blizzard of flower petals and confetti as the sound of bells begins to ring out.

He considers his spells. He's an Expert Geomancer, an Adept Priest. More than enough to fiddle with what they can do.

Spinning the Wishcarp Sounder in his hands, he freestyles a wedding march, focusing on his Terrain Spell of the Mountains: Arise Oh Golden Bastion, burning a wish from the instrument, using his Wish Specialization: Mystic Architecture, as well as his status as an Expert Geomancer, Adept Priest and a Divine Bride of Mecha-Vashna.

At the same time, Miracles Clone 1 uses Rengineer Reality (something the Doctor(s) are, by now, becoming very adept with) to assist the shift, upgrading the Attuned Terrain from Mindscape to the most powerful one they own- to Divine Domain, with all the current Will, Chaos and Evolution-defenses and improvements intact.
Will, for the Doctor cannot be swayed from his loyalty and link to the Deific Mecha-Vashna, as he eternally reflects on how fortunate he is to be His Bride- as is His Divine Will.
Chaos, for the Deific Mecha-Vashna is of Vasha, the force of Chaos and change recognised across the universe, and undeniably linked to the Chaos Messiah (blessed be His Chaotic Self).
Evolution, for the Deific Mecha-Vashna requires that his followers constantly Upgrade Themselves, whether literally or metaphorically.

Radiant, gorgeous light blasts outwards, carrying the sound of wedding bells, a hurricane of flower petals, and a storm of wedding dresses with it as the Divine Domain manifests and grows, burning away at the dome of darkness!

The stage is set! The Doctor casts the upgraded spell, spending extra XP if necessary (if the Wish, Specialization and assorted appropriate Expertise and Adeptitude isn't enough) to properly upgrade, empower and cement it!
No longer is it Terrain Spell of the Mountains: Arise, Oh Golden Bastion!

Instead, it is Terrain Spell of the Divine Domain: Descend, Oh Sublime Basilica!

From far, far above (and slightly to the left), the Deific Mecha-Vashna turns His Awesome Visage towards the world and gives a Lovely Wink, a spark of power rippling forth from the gesture.
The spark coalesces into a Sublime Basilica-Chapel of the Deific Mecha-Vashna (complete with an enormous statue of the deity himself, depicted in classical style with divinely-chiseled abs, sublimely-tight trousers, an astoundingly-gorgeous wink and dual-weilding his preferred weapon of interdictor cruisers), streaking from space and impacting the dome of darkness with the force of a Divine Plasma Cannon, blowing it apart like smoke in a hurricane before settling upon the Divine Domain below as its centrepiece.

Jubilant bells ring out: the Advent of the Divine Bride is here! Salvation is at hand! The Doctor may not be the Prophet of the Deific Mecha-Vashna (that honour goes to the Chaos Messiah, blessed be his name(s)), but he holds his own measure of significant power backed by an Ascension- he is a ♢Prophesied Savior! All of him are!

The Lunar Revelation Ooze in the Doctor's head links up with the Oozes on the field to broadcast this fact to the entire city- why wallow in sorrow, suffering at the hands of the cruel and arbitrary laws of the false King, the depredations of the lizard menace, the shockingly genre-inappropriate schemes of the Witch? Find salvation in Divine Matrimony to His Gorgeous Divinity, the Deific Mecha-Vashna, as announced by the Prophesied Saviour! They then proceed to list off the shockingly-reasonable tenets of the deity in question, providing them with a Choice- continued suffering at the hands of the Enigma Man and their terrible Schemes, or endless wedded bliss as Divine Brides?

Sparrow Magnum is offered the same choice- as The Deific Mecha-Vashna is More Awesome Than Birds, and given Sparrow Magnum is bird-themed, by becoming His Divine Bride, he can rest assured in the knowledge that a power far more awesome than he is will be forever watching over him, dispelling the fear that the Witch's theatrics might inflict, and urging him to constantly better himself.

Sparrow Magnum is given a wink and the instruction to "Be of THE DEFENCE and THE MARRIAGE"

Miracles Clone 2, meanwhile, undergoes Primordial Self-Division, budding off another Doctor-clone with his full complement of buffs.

The Doctor(s) bud off some oozes. Many of them are Lunar Revelation oozes.

Doctor MIRACLES decides now's the time to break through this dark veil in the flashiest way he can; through the power of his lord, savior, and courtly love Mecha-Vashna.

Clone 1 Rengineers Reality once more, attempting to upgrade the Mindscape into the imposing Divine Domain. The Witch of the Woods anticipated the use of that spell again and laid a terrible trap. In the brief period where the terrain is in flux between Mindscape and Divine Domain, this trap is triggered. A bevvy of curses swarm in through the momentary gap in the Doctor's defenses, hitting the Doctor, both of his clones, each of his summons, and Sparrow Magnum with a group of nasty curses. Reacting quickly to the mistake a brief heartbeat before the curses take effect, the second clone offers itself up to Mecha-Vashna as a component to complete the terrain conversion. The favor of his deity shines upon him, and the onrush of curses is blasted backwards before anything worse hits the remaining, now solo, Doctor. The terrain is set as Divine Domain and is shining brightly. Curses, as that is what the Darkness clearly is, continue to swirl hungrily around the outside of the terrain but seem entirely unable to get in for the moment.

The Doctor gets-
Oh Holy Mecha-Vashna, Sanctify My Body as the Chapel of Your Love!- (Active Ability, Priest) Possessor may spend an action to transform themselves into a copy of Phantom Terrain: Divine Domain, Possessor must be a devout worshipper of Mecha-Vashna to use this ability

The Doctor then gets hit with-
Witch of the Woods Curse Index- (Passive Ability, Curse)- This ability maintains its own special list of curses, with these curses only taking effect while possessor is on an opposing side to a unique entity named *Witch of the Woods and are otherwise considered to have no text but can be removed through standard means that remove curses, should this ability be removed possessor is inflicted normally with all curses on the associated list
Curse of Withered Flesh- (Passive Ability, Curse) -500 STR, -500 CON, Possessor's Charm infliction chances are reduced by 30%
Never Learns- (Passive Ability, Curse) Possessor can't obtain new abilities

Through an effort of Will, the Doctor manages to shrug off the final curse which would have disabled his ability to summon anything but inanimate bones. His Evolution skillset is on the fritz now. It isn't completely disabled, but the Never Learns curse is really hampering the "growth" elements of it.

With the darkness now clear at least for the moment, the Doctor takes in the worrying change the surroundings have undergone. The sky now swirls with angry red-black clouds pulsing with purple lightning and evil fumes fill the city. The remaining five lesser lizard monsters are crowded in a defensive position around the larger one which has grown a huge, glowing, bloodshot eye on its forehead. Its hands are locked together forming a symbol of protection and its muscles strain with effort. The trees of the Woods have become muted and somehow both larger and more distant looking, and those purple fumes are streaming out of them to converge in the center of surround the city.

The Doctor takes action. Working off his combination of abilities and burning 10 million XP and 400,000,000 gold in addition to the usual costs of the spell and wish, he modifies the casting of Terrain Spell of the Mountains: Arise, Oh Golden Bastion! to cast Terrain Spell of the Divine Domain: Descend, Oh Sublime Basilica! The Doctor, being Not-Bees, is many things. He is an ooze. He is a geomancy spell. He is also a Property. From the heart of the terrain grows the Sublime Basilica-Chapel of the Deific Mecha-Vashna's Endless Love. Over the course of ten glorious seconds during which nothing else can do aught but watch this grandeur, it grows from the ground. It's just how he imagined it. Marble and gold-gilded towers stretch into the sky, and it's got the statue too! Statues of His many disciples dressed in wedding gowns and looking lovingly towards the statue line the exterior. The interior sports a massive fresco depicting the Doctor reaching out and touching His divine, mechanized digit flanked by dozens of beautiful stained glass windows. The central altar is a pure white bed around which rose pedals continuously spawn and the place is always decked out for a wedding.

The Chapel and Divine Domain make a stark contrast against what the rest of the world has become. Doctor MIRACLES makes his pronouncement! Many very confused citizens offer up their prayers to Mecha-Vashna in hopes of being spared whatever awful thing is happening. The Basilica-Chapel shines brighter from the influx of faith, opening up several small holes in the web of curses surrounding it. Through these holes it pulls in tens of thousand citizens from around the city, placing them safely on the pews.

Sparrow Magnum looks weirded out by the whole thing but is happy to take shelter in this giant, strange church that has sprung up out of nowhere and seems to be holding the darkness at bay.

A pronouncement rings out.

"LET IT BE KNOWN! HENCEFORTH, A FOUL RELIGION HAS SPREAD THROUGH THE LANDS! IT RISKS THE VERY SOULS OF OUR FAIR CITIZENS. THEREFORE, PREEMPTIVE SALVATION IS BEING APPLIED FOR THE GOOD OF ALL. ALL CITIZENS ARE HEREBY PUT TO DEATH. SO IT IS WRITTEN, SO IT SHALL BE!"

Uh oh. Millions of guillotines phase into place. Millions of guillotines come crashing down. Millions of heads roll. The hungry vapors rush in and scoop up millions of souls, funneling them from across the planet into the heart of the dark, dark Woods. The citizens who had called out for aid from divine Mecha-Vashna sit within the chapel, terrified but unharmed.

A distant cackling is heard, warped and loud.

And with that, the Doctor's trap is sprung.

The Enigma Man has denied the Prophesied Saviour-Bride of the Deific Mecha-Vashna, Whose Body Is His Chapel.
It has defied His Gorgeous Will by opposing their righteous worship of Him.
It has eaten His Divine Brides.
It has killed millions more of them.
It has stolen their souls.

And now, facing them, a single, final Bride rallies against the overwhelming darkness beyond.

It is time.

The Doctor spreads his arms wide!

"MAN of THE ENIGMAS! YOU and YOU and THE FACES OF YOURSELVES are of THE INCORRECT AND BADNESS!
AND NOW!
RIGHT NOW!
For the RETURN of THE BRIDES of HE THAT IS HIMSELF, it is THE TIMES OF GO!"

The Doctor gently kicks off the ground, drifting backwards and ascending into the Sublime Basilica-Chapel as it grows ever-brighter, petals shining like shards of shattered sunlight and cascading around him in dazzling patterns.

"BEHOLD!"

The Doctor rises, borne on a tide of blessed love, radiant petals, divine confetti and triumphant hymns.

"HIS LOVE!"

The Doctor reaches the fresco, pointing upwards to match his painted self's gesture, meeting The Deific Mecha-Vashna's Divine Digit with his own hand.

"HIS RAGE!"

The hand that bears the Ring of Cosmic Birth.

The Ring that can summon Planetaries.

"AND ALL OF HIS SEXY!"

The Doctor is a Divine Bride of the Deific Mecha-Vashna.
He is a Servant of a Favored Sort.
He is the Ascendant-Power-Backed ♢Prophesied Savior.
He is an Adept Priest.
He is situated in the centre of a Divine Domain directly dedicated to The Deific Mecha-Vashna, created through loving, selfless sacrifice of his own body, within the full majesty of the Sublime Basilica-Chapel of the Deific Mecha-Vashna's Endless Love.
He has successfully converted millions of Divine Brides in Sublime Matrimony to His Eternal Totalmagnificence (and influenced millions of Divine Brides-To-Be).

Those same Divine Brides now require His Blessed Salvation from the terrible depredations of the Enigma Men that stand before him, upon whom His Most Sexy Divine Retribution is deserved.

From The Gorgeous Mechabible of The Deific Mecha-Vashna, Tenet II:
Pray to Mecha Vashna to save the day!

(Fun fact: The Deific Mecha-Vashna was, at last reckoning, Level 85, although the guy may have increased in level since then. The Ring of Cosmic Birth also has no restrictions on its summon-condition beyond Level. Ordinarily, calling in something so powerful would go disastrously wrong. Unfortunately for the Enigma Man, this has played exactly the right way to set the stage for this ridiculousness)

Thoughts, having not fully read this yet (so I may add more):

* Draconics seemed to support intervention in chat, which boosts odds of intervention here.
* PCs calling in higher-Level divine patrons to fix problems is something - particularly on mod-run worlds - that I don't want to become a huge trend, reduction of odds.
* MIRACLES has Adept Priest. That's enough Priest for calling in divine intervention to actually be part of his build, boosts odds.
* Mecha-Vashna has tenets that encourage praying for help, boosts the odds.
* Mass conversion and holy ground are in play, boosting odds.
* Noix has been noted as metaphysically remote in terms of accessible parts of the main multiverse, lowering odds.
* Mecha-Vashna hasn't been invoked like this before, so it hasn't become a stale thing to do, and is a potentially clever pull, boosting odds.

* Apparently the summoning vector is the Ring of Cosmic Birth? Birthing the group's collective husband is a bit strange, and flies in the face of Mecha-Vashna's theming a bit. Reduces odds of directly him, but increases odds of making some sort of collective robot star-baby avatar-thing showing up.

I'm still getting a net positive of the man showing up. More to follow, probably want to talk to Wrig about this some.

The prosthelytizing Doctor falls back into the Basilica-Chapel, glowing brightly and creating a halo of glowing petals around his feet. He concentrates his will and hope for salvation into his calling, using his priestly powers to gather and form the assembled faith from the new conversion (and salvation?) of 36,122 souls into His divine embrace. The petals turn to shiny rose-gold forming a gateway around the point on the fresco as the doctor drifts up and touches his finger to it. Exhausted from the sheer drama of the moment, he falls back in a mock faint onto the bed far below as a point of crystalline, starry light glows brighter and brighter on the ceiling. All at once it detatches, floating down to just above the Doctor.

There is a pregnant pause.

And the point of light splits open. Soft, mechanized hands emerge, gripping the light around the edges and yanking out a radiant robot baby a full twice the size of Doctor MIRACLES himself. It is surrounded by a gentle glow and sports twin galactic speedsters (a sleek personal racecar-type space craft each nearly three times the size of the baby) on its back. A halo of hardlight rings its brow. The thing turns its lidded eyes that glow with starlight to the Doctor and he senses a will to protect the newfound congregation emanating from this thing. Grace settles over the assembled humans. A linkup begins between the entire congregation, Dr. MIRACLES, and the Mechanized Space-Baby.

Mechanized Space-Baby of His Divine Love- (Exmachina, Technology & Astral, Level 64)

A fuzzy, familiar, whimsical warmth pours out of the Woods and permeates the chapel. It feels like comfortable pillows and all your favorite things from childhood. It smells like fresh bread, feels like a warm bed, and sounds like laughter in the afternoon during a summer with no responsibilities. It's peace. It's home. It's safety. It's time bed time.

"There's no need to fight me, little lambs. Sleep."

The humans of the congregation, having witnessed the miracle of Mechanized Space-Baby's birth, settle down into their pews blissfully as if there's no more comfortable place in the world.

The lids of Mecha-Vashna's avatar droop and then close, and it sinks down onto the bed next to the Doctor.

Sparrow Magnum, PI slums on the floor into blissful, endless sleep.

The Doctor sags. He knows this isn't right. It is NOT time for sleep, no matter how right it feels. He strains against it, putting everything he has into resisting this insidiously powerful enchantment. He manages to keep awake, barely, through another effort of Will. His actions are slowed and he feels leaden and groggy as after effects of the curse he has managed to shrug and as a downside of the linkup.

Pain transferred through the linkup shocks him back awake as thousands of cuts begin appearing on the skin of the congregation members. Dark, bloody wounds made as if through claws are clearly killing member after member of the flock and their red blood stains the floor of the chapel. The Mechanized Space-Baby isn't spared either; it cries out in its sleep but does not wake as numerous ragged wounds begin appearing all over its frame leaking glowing oil. The Doctor recognizes the wounds from the crime scene before; whatever is causing the damage here clearly damaged the furniture of that apartment similarly.

Sparrow Magnum, PI's throat is slashed open. He starts awake, the only one within the field not sleeping besides the Doctor. He looks around wildly with panic in his eyes, gurgling out attempts at words. He's clearly in a bad way.

As the pages turn, so the fight continues. As Will and Wonder war, reality stutters and expands as the Stage enters an uncertain narrative flow.

The scales are weighed against the good Doctor and the odds long. Will the sexy priest-prophet snatch victory from the pits of despair? Can Magnum Sparrow, PI recover from such a grievous wound? Is someone going to call child protective services against the witch for violence against a baby? Images flash by, disjoined glimpses of the possible printed as splash pages of unrealized potentiality. All stories must eventually come to their end. None but the Author of that tale can change this fact. A question begs asking, then.

What might an ideal end look like for the Witch in the Woods?

An antagonized, crippled BA member with plenty of friends and a mind for revenge doesn't seem an inviting prospect.

Neither does a planet and its hither-to captive populace lost to the sway of a mechanized god of marriage. My, but that would set her back.

Peace, then. Solitude and an adversary bested yet unbroken might be seen as the best conclusion in her star-flecked eyes. Who is to say?

Dr. MIRACLES is encouraged to Exit The Thread.

Dr. MIRACLES, should he choose not to contest this, gains the following award carefully crafted from all the Bad Ends that could have been-

No Longer Lost in the Woods (This Award Does Not Show Up To Normal Scans)

The Doctor has a year and a day to choose, lest the choice be made for him.

(I actually forgot about this due to the past two years being fully of Very Bad Times, real-life-wise. Having said that, I think I'll take the exit here and get a summary written up.)

It's unfortunate hearing your last few years have not been kind.

The curse index, previous awards, bottle item, and most of Dr. MIRACLES's memories of the ordeal are getting bundled up and tucked into the award.
No Longer Lost in the Woods (This Award Does Not Show Up To Normal Scans)
From what he can remember, he went to Noix and got a bit lost (as is normal for him) in a great, dark woods only to fall asleep at some point. He woke in his nexus room and was greeted by the quickly-dissipating smell of freshly baked bread.

The priest ability (subject to approval from gad) and upgrade to his overcoat are carrying over.
