Seirei

What is known is that the world contains considerable levels of spiritual energy, a result of the physical and spiritual planes being in close alignment, in some cases overlapping and even merging with one another to bizarre effect.
Spirits and kami roam the world freely, often invisible to the untrained eye, but capable of feats both great and terrible.
Ancient blessings and curses linger in forgotten forests and valleys, giving rise to strange and unusual phenomena.
And above all of this, The Great Order of Spirit Tamers stands, capturing unruly spirits and using their power to maintain the balance between physical and spiritual for the good of all, as they have done for thousands of years.

So it is said.

OPEN PORTALS

One portal leads to the grassy plateaus, meadows and newly-sprouted forests of Impara, in the holdings of House Clavis, the House of Keys, one of the many factions of the Order The Vestibule of the Timeshadow Goddess, all glory be to her name. Presently, it is located the grassy plateaus, meadows and newly-sprouted forests of Impara, soon to see the light of Time.

A second is a baroquely-ornamented set of white-and-gold doors, with a gold plaque reading 'To (Somewhere) In The Spirit World' above it.

Finally, there's an elegant, sleek archway through which space folds and both Hope and Law whisper. Embossed into its surface are the words "Seirei Travel Nexus". The words 'Seirei' and 'Nexus' are shining on the arch.

There's also a phone booth present in the portal room.

Clavia Province

The City of Clavia

-A gilt-edged note in flowing script requesting assistance regarding some 'troublesome exhibits'. It instructs interested parties to take the note with them through the portal.

-A letter with a cheery-looking bird stamped in the corner, requesting help for the 'Clavia Chaffinch Delivery Service'. Members are experiencing increasing number of accidents under unusual circumstances, and letters and parcels are going missing.

-A terse message in solidly-regimented type requesting assistance in investigating rumours of disappearing members of Clavia's underclass. Applicants are to meet with Lieutenant Vigio of the Clavia City Guard.

-Melo Clavis, a member of good standing in House Clavis, has gone missing after hosting a party dedicated to the appreciation of art, rare pieces of music and musical instruments he's collected over the years. Also missing are his guests and most of his staff. Marie Escale, a cook who was off sick on the day, suspects foul play and wants someone unaffiliated with the House to investigate.

The Port of Marefore

-With House Clavis otherwise occupied and the lighthouse out of commission, the seas around Marefore have become considerably more dangerous. Storms and reports of ships being attacked are on the increase, with both spirits and pirates being blamed. The lighthouse itself is also an issue, given a light-eating spirit appears to have taken up residence within.

-People have been going missing in and around Aldebright Forest, on the outskirts of Marefore. At the same time, the number of spirit sightings reported in the forest has increased. As shipments of lumber have been dwindling due to recent events and the town's shipwrights turn to local sources for wood, there is concern that the situation may quickly escalate out of control. The Clavis Estate in Marefore is requesting aid from Nexus adventurers in determining the cause and putting a stop to it. (*)

-Vernon Pinna, now finding his workshop-hangars surprisingly restored, requests financial backers from outside Seirei to help fund his enterprise's research into new, experimental airships that don't require spiritual assistance to take flight. He hopes that he might provide a valuable, cost-effective way of ferrying passengers to other landmasses. So long as the Houses don't find out before he can even get it off the ground. Or the merchants under the Houses...

-The Flying Catfish Restaurant in Marefore is looking for decent fishermen to provide them with delicacies to add to the menu in order to cater to the more important clientele that arrive in the town. Unfortunately, options are practically nonexistant after the devastation wrought by current events, loss of most fishing vessels and the danger of setting out too far into the ocean. Seafood is good. Seafood from interesting locations is even better. Ask for Helen Fein.

-Marefore, in the wake of its nuclear destruction and despite its sudden restoration, has still taken a significant dent to its population. Many properties in the town's bazaar and dockside areas belonged to individuals who either did not return to life, and whose next of kin either suffered the same fate or were unreachable, or whose memories were rendered so blank that their continuing to live in the area would be impossible. As a result, a number of houses, shops and other properties are being sold off as-is, with all items inside intact. In the interests of reaching out to providers of more exotic goods that simply don't exist on the world in order to help the town's economy recover, this offer is being extended to prospective buyers beyond the Gate. Interested parties are to inquire at the Marefore Town Hall.

Outdated Notices wrote:-Marefore Bazaar has been experiencing an upswing in injuries, theft and violence of late, with causes unknown. Given the other problems currently plaguing the coastal town, further blows to its trade industry cannot be allowed to continue. Help is requested to get to the bottom of this. With the destruction and subsequent restoration of Marefore Bazaar, the increased activity has abruptly stopped.

-Marefore has been devastated by the terrible catastrophe wrought upon it by the Gold Dust Killer. Almost all of the bazaar and much of the town's dockside is gone. The damage done is incalculable. Any and all proceeds towards rebuilding it, whether through monetary donations, labour or assistance in setting the souls of those suddenly killed in the catastrophe to rest would be greatly appreciated. Anyone willing and capable of training the town guard to prevent any future incidents and keep the peace during this time will be handsomely rewarded. Due to the restoration of Marefore through Time powers, almost all of the damage done has been undone.

-A note on official-looking letterhead asking for retrieval specialists to aid in a 'delicate situation' with utmost discretion. Applicants are to ask for Tristan Doce at the Clavia Academy for the August Order of Spirit Tamers. (*) Thanks to Zweiruigi's unique style of investigation, a group of missing Spirit Tamers-in-training were retrieved from the Old Clavia Undercity safe and more-or-less intact.

(*) Denotes quests that are, or may be higher-level than the others, depending on how far into the locations one gets/how lucky one is with rolls. Mostly hovering around the 30s-40s/potentially-50s mark, with some higher points depending, again, on luck/where one goes.

Through the efforts of Remalius, the curse was broken and the culprit found- Felimber, a cat-spirit that controlled the weather, who cursed the town after his mask was stolen. The thief was apprehended and reparations were made, solving the problem)

Exga Village- The Faceless Swordsmen (Mysterious faceless swordsmen appeared around the Rosebay Fields near Exga Village, attacking the infrequent travelers and merchants that passed through the country roads. Silent One visited the Fields, entered the Spirit World it acted as a gate to, and destroyed both a shrine and a spirit-world army apparently intent on invading the human world, defeating their commander and taking his banner)

Exga Village- A Burning Problem (Fires springing up around the village and increasing in severity caused the loss of two farmhouses. Vrishni investigated, and, with the help of a strange, wandering young man with a box on his back, ventured into the adjoining Rosebay Fields and the Spirit World to defeat the Emberflies responsible and tackle the things drawing them so close to the boundary of Human and Spirit worlds, defeating and managing to recruit a slightly abrasive lantern-spirit in the process)

Pella- A Case of Low Spirits (Remalius returned to Pella to see how well it was recovering from the curse of rain and offered to help subdue some unruly spirits with Ella and Finn. In doing so, he released Moon Mana into the world so heavily governed by lunar activity, propogating it throughout the world, creating the Pella Moonforest and ushering in the start of the Grand Lunar Age.)

Clavia- A Daemonic Delegation (Vivian Green and Obernath, delegates from the Fulsome Industry, arrive to bargain with the heads of House Clavis to gain a foothold on the world. They find no success, but an unexpected invitation leads them in another direction...)

Clavia- An Inconvenient Obstacle- A Corrupt Cause (A shady job posting by the Clavia Spirit Hunter's Association leads to a series of assassinations with the eventual goal of one of House Clavis themselves. Gillian took the job with significant ulterior motives in mind, spreading Corruption in her wake and eventually clashed with Roy in a climactic battle inside the Corruption-ravaged shell of the Sera Clavis Estate.)

Clavia- An Inconvenient Obstacle- The Race Is On (A shady job posting by the Clavia Spirit Hunter's Association leads to a series of assassinations with the eventual goal of one of House Clavis themselves. Roy endeavoured to get there before the mysterious first party and managed, against all odds, to proceed and succeed without killing anyone except his rival, making great strides in Anti-Corruption Dark Magic in the process)

The Gate Complex- A Clown for a Clown (Caroline the Clown, looking for Lili in places she knows she's been, failed to locate her prospective goddess but instead had a friendly chat with the gate complex's staff, learning about Seirei and teaching them about Nexus in return)

Clavia- Short Tamers, Shorter Tempers (Zweirugi is sent to help a teacher at Clavia's Academy for the August Order of Spirit Tamers, and finds missing children, obstructive bureaucracy, and recalcitrant faculty. The trail leads to the ancient Clavia Undercity, a long-abandoned ruin from the Nightmare Moon Era...)

The Seed Rains- Exploring the Rains- Time's Broken Reflection/The Descent of the Fuchsia Tower (Kit and Kelver visit to experience the Seed Rains. Kelver, upon hearing a local lumberjack's stated mission to fell trees immediately attacked with a group of Treants, only to be sharply rebuffed by the combined forces of the lumberjack and the Clavia Guard. While fleeing, a mysterious tower plunged from the Rains and landed on the unfortunate druid. Meanwhile, Kit teleported to the middle of a forest, attempted to rewind time and met interference that broke a hole in the fabric of reality, leading to a very strange place indeed- The Epoch's Reflection.)

The Seed Rains- Exploring the Rains- To Pella's Defense (Remalius, hearing of the Rains' possible threat to Pella, ventured forth to the town, only to find it overrun with a strange dreamworld-generating vine. In attempting to fix the problem he successfully freed the townsfolk, but, unbidden, infused Finn Fein with a large quantity of the dreamworlds' mana, turning him into an Aptim- a half-spirit outcast.)

The Seed Rains- Exploring the Rains- The Dragon and the Fuchsia Tower (Celiria arrived to explore the world and the Rains and encounters the Fuchsia Tower. Taking a shortcut to its upper floors through the overgrowth-causing rainclouds, the dragon fell afoul of its residents.)

The Seed Rains- Exploring the Rains- Tia Teleste and the Shrine of Moons (Kelver- this time disguised in a Tia costume and presenting himself to an inexperienced clerk as 'Tia Teleste' in order to avoid recognition from his previous misdeeds- picked an odd plant and was whisked off to a distant, ancient dungeon.)

The Seed Rains- Exploring the Rains- Rivals Ride Forth (Sir Hector Hastingford- of the Axelbury Hastingfords- rides to Marefore for treasure and glory! But mostly treasure. After a rocky start, he finds wealth beyond his wildest dreams. Sir Eustace the Mountain-Faced, Hector's considerably more honourable rival, likewise sets off to seek his fortune and right wrongs, only to be unpleasantly interrupted by the falling Jasmine Tower.)

The Seed Rains- Exploring the Rains- To Exga's Defense, To Exga's Benefit (Vrishni and Ardy arrive to investigate the Seed Rains, only to find the countryside occupied by strange plant-soldiers and Exga Village in danger of destruction at the hands of dangerous plantlife. The duo protect the village, identify what crops are valuable and which are dangerous for the village to grow, create the Kingwood Forest above the settlement, spark an extremely rare and valuable talent in the town's smith, and explore both the Rosebay Fields and the mysterious Jasmine Tower.)

The Seed Rains- Exploring the Rains- The Considerate Gardener (Elyion and Giles set off to see what the Seed Rains have to offer, and get perhaps more than they bargain for. Meeting a mad botanist and grumpy guide, they chart a course across the local countryside, finding treasure and danger in equal measure)

Marefore- The Rise Of A Killer (Rey heads to Marefore to investigate the problems caused by the Seed Rains and do some shopping. Instead, he ends up committing mass murder and inadvertantly creates the persona of the Gold-Dust Killer)

The Jasmine Tower- Assault On The Jasmine Tower (Kit heads to Marefore, only to get distracted by the countryside's newest fixture. In attacking a spirit from the tower, she instead launches a massive attack against the entire tower-dungeon, summoning its most potent residents to launch an attack against their aggressor, to Kit's detriment.)

Marefore- Bazaar Happenings (Celiria and Orkanith set out to Marefore to assist in the problems plaguing the bazaar and the town's lighthouse, splitting up on entry. Orkanith successfully apprehends a suspected member of a thief gang, but falls afoul of another of their number. He instead sets out to investigate the lighthouse with two Spirit Hunter's Association members, but is interrupted by the nuclear destruction of the town's centre.)

Marefore- The Nuking Of Marefore (Celiria splits off to investigate the town, assisting in clearing the port of the huge blockade of trees and meeting two members of the Spirit Hunter's Association, which she joins. No less than two encounters with a mythical spirit-mystery-merchant and his shop later, she finds herself in possession of a legendary spear, an enslaved thief, and a cursed teapot that causes extreme ageing. A later attempt to leave the bazaar through the questionable application of extreme mana-fuelled Atomic pressure-cooker flight results in herself exploding, taking much of the town with her.)

Interlude- A Conversation With A Thief (Celiria talks to her latest acquisition, the Aptim thief, Newt Merill. Introductions are made, Nexus and the Arena explained, absorbs are attempted and the entire situation abruptly cut short by Newt's abduction and potential destruction at the hands of a mysterious Purple Force.)

Interlude- Celiria Reads A Postcard (A mysterious postcard found in the aftermath of the dragoon's newest companion's abduction is read.)

Clavia- Celiria Chases A Dream (Celiria and Heracles enter Seirei to find a book mentioned by her mysterious postcard that may help her recover Newt. Abandoning Heracles in the Spirit World, Celiria encounters an angry Tengu, bribes him with the means to control and destroy minds, and sets off to the city for tea, scones and illegal literature.)

Spirit World- Heracles' Automated Adventures (Having chosen during the Dreaming Moon Festival to be placed into an automated state, Heracles runs through the Spirit World. Despite having bad luck, he still manages to discover some locations and items of interest.)

Marefore- The (Approximate) Restoration of Marefore (Kit leaps into action and uses a mixture of Time, Glory and amnesia-inducement to fix the town, mostly. Unfortunately, a combination of factors and not informing anyone beforehand leaves her with another mess to unravel. People stuck in walls and comatose, soulless bodies are dealt with, but high tensions and a series of certain events lead to the timefox being ousted before she can fully fix her fox-fix.)

Clavia- Dragoon, Interrupted (Celiria heads off to Clavia to get her curses fixed. Instead, she unwittingly terrorises the countryside with summoned Fire Drakes, turns a far-too-serious food fight into a disaster, and pays a Spirit Hunter Shrine Maiden an exorbitant fee to deal with her sense-problems before self-inflicted meta-problems interact poorly with the delicate spiritual procedure and rip Celiria from reality.)

Pella- Into The Moonforest (Remalius returns to Pella to variable reception. Finding nobody he knows around, he instead ventures into the Moonforest, meddles with spirits templated off of his own form and, from there, is swept into the Spirit World.)

Seirei Portal Room- A Terrible Combination (Kit attempts to empower the comatose, soulless, narcotic-producing body she picked up through absorbs, ignoring the warnings she was previously given about the possession-susceptibility of empty bodies. One chained mixture of soul, spirit and undead-related absorbs later, Kit finds she has created an abomination against even undeath, and is forced to flee into the Spirit World, letting it rampage into Seirei)

Spirit World- The Sea, The Sea, The See (Kazivon ventures into the Spirit World to find a strange ocean, a stranger ocean, and a place upon an ocean that shifts with its laws, changing local reality with it)

The Gate Complex/Spirit World- A Bloody Swathe (Anathema and Roy enter Seirei to track down the Nameless Ravener and take it for their own. Following its trail of destruction leads them to the Spirit World, however, and the still-forming and leaderless domains of Cruore prove to be too tempting a target of conquest to pass up...)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Dreaming Moon Festival (A once-a-year tradition on Seirei finds itself, for various reasons, taking an entire year to complete from a meta-perspective. A good time is had by most.)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Fading Province- One Perfect Mo̟̥̭͓̊̔ͯment (Einarr finds himself not on Seirei but somewhere alien and impermanent. Through his exploration, the old warrior finds a cathedral dedicated to a fleeting event.)
The Fading Province- Gla̷̠̜̒ss and Fireflies (Lili encounters an alien landscape, a crumbling tower and a city that cannot last.)
