The Eternal Suncloud applies Light of the Sun Eternal on Kit! Her defense and damage are both greatly increased!

The Cloudrider summons up the Upper Mists of the Beyond, surrounding the group with ethereal clouds that fade into and out of their bodies, boosting their Dodge!

The second round begins. The Celestial Flow Eternal washes out and into Kit's group again, dealing Moderate damage to the Dream and Minor Damage to the Suncloud, Kit and the Cloudrider, who manages to dodge the worst of it.

Kit and the Dream are up again!

Kit taxes her mana reserves, unleashing her most powerful spell in a time-ripping riotous explosion!

In response, the Stellar Circle pre-emptively counter-mass-summons in a flood of Astral Beings, attempting to overwhelm Kit's party before she has a chance to deal too much damage!
The temporal blast rips through the summons, but there are enough in the way to prevent the worst of the assault reaching the Circle and the River, dealing only Moderate damage to both.

The Dream glares twohundredfold at the River, battering it with a gaze that sends audible tremors tearing through the fabric of reality! The River curves and curls itself into a defensive formation, sending out ripples and waves of stars in its wake to block the assault. It takes Minor damage from the attack!

The River of Stars continues to dance and whirl, intertwining its sinuous form into itself and setting up the Celestial Flow Eternal. Waves of star-stuff wash out from it, aiming at Kit's entire party!
The Cloudrider is able to whip up a barrier of heavenly clouds to whisk the assault to a place Beyond before it hits, preventing any damage from being taken! It looks like that attack is going to repeat every round, however. That's potentially a problem.

The Eternal Suncloud and Cloudrider are up!

Kit blasts the room with a Temporal Flare, hyperaccelerating it to a point that the Stellar Circle is unable to counter-summon and the River of Stars is unable to dodge or shift itself into a more defensive stance, dealing Heavy damage to both.

The Dream gaEs. No, it Disables BBCode.

Wait, what?

The Dream attempts to do something. It instead manages to resonate with the inherent instability of the dungeon and the [non]space outside, causing

Everyone takes damage from the Green And Purple Fire.

The Burning Green-And-Purple Flow Eternal rips into everyone, dealing Moderate damage to Kit, the Dream, and the Suncloud, and missing the Cloudrider entirely.

Kit attempts to defend herself and her allies from the fire through abjuration!
This is a somewhat more difficult prospect than it would seem, because not only are they currently on said fire, but said fire is also some horrible Chaos-corrupted variant with a whole mess of other problems that come along with it. She manages to reinforce her allies' defenses and raise their resistances somewhat, but the flames are vexing and just don't want to play by the normal rules.

The Dream sheds a mask! Fortunately, whatever it is it did technically counted as coming from it enough to allow it to shed the resultant status effect, although it's a very close thing.
It then floods its side of battle with joyful dreams, managing to muster up sufficiently potent examples (helped by the fact it is no longer on fire) to heal everyone for a Heavy amount of damage and even deaden the Fire's Spirit- and Constitution-reduction effects for the time being.
There's still the damage from the flames themselves to deal with, however.

The River of Stars, still burning, unleashes an Astral Flood at the group, dealing Moderate damage to Kit, the Dream and the Cloudrider, Minor damage to the Suncloud, and afflicting the entire party with Voidstruck: Astral Echoes.

The Suncloud and Cloudrider are up.

the suncloud will attempt to use a stasis strike on the river of stars. trying to freeze the stars themselves in place for now.

The Cloudrider isn't able to bring forth a buff to shake the burning, but it's able to set up an ablative defense-buff to take the next damage-hit from the status effect, unless the rapidly-destabilising, growing-steadily-more-chaotic Flow Eternal effect hits first.

The Suncloud manages to help in that regard, blasting the enemy's side of the room with aggressive Stasis, dealing Moderate damage and causing the looming effect to stutter in place a little, ensuring it will only hit after the flames.

The Green-And-Purple flames burn away at the group! Kit's side of battle has their cloudbuffs burn off, but suffer no damage as a result.
The River of Stars is looking in a very bad way, tongues of lurid flame ripping through its form.

The destabilising Burning Green-And-Purple Flow Eternal erratically judders through the ranks, completely failing to deal any damage against Kit's wardings and dealing Moderate damage to the summons.

Re: Kit tries her luck

Post by Aeromage »

Kit and the Dream unleash a punishing two-step blast of flaming magic and psychic force, finally destabilising the elemental's form enough for it to discorporate entirely.

Kit manages to shake the fire, but the rest of her team are still burning (and everyone is still threatened by the lingering Astral Echoes).

Kit and the Dream get:
2* XP for a Level 62 entity
2* XP for a Level 64 entitiy

Large Container of Astral Mana Oil- (Item, Material, Astral, 500,000 Gold)
<>starsʘ- (Accessory, Glitch, Null & Astral, 5,742,500 Gold) All Astral-element actions and effects in the same battlespace as wielder fail, instead (if their source is of lower or equal Level to wielder) targeting their sources with a Null-element version of themselves; all Astral Element entities and items in battle instead become the element Null, with a number of Astral Beings equal to the number of said entities and items joining battle at the start of battle on a third side; these Astral Beings do not count as summons, are of equal or lower level to the highest-level affected entity (or entity wielding an affected item), and naturally possess one additional action per round than they would otherwise have

The room now free of angry dungeon-dwellers, Kit is able to take it in. It is tall and cylindrical, with no other obvious doors in it. Glittering star-motes gently cascade within the metal, radiating from the ceiling, down the walls, and pooling in the floor around a large central disc with symbols on it. Said disc also has lurid green-and-purple cracks in it, presumably from the earlier... event.

The disc is (aside from the new cracks), a flat, smooth surface bereft of the usual glittering star-motes the Starmetal possesses. It looks very similar to the blank ceiling-canvas from the arena-room Kit fought the painter-spirit in, in fact.
Set into the disc is a grid of nine depressions. The bottom-central depression has a fancier border than the others, and is filled with liquid starlight.
One of the depressions has an unpleasant purple crack radiating off from it; another a green crack.

Kit focuses on healing and warding her allies before she turns to the display.

taking out:
*Starmetal Brush of the Night Canvas, she will attempt to dip it into the depression then try to paint with the liquid to another depression. she will go to the one that is on the top left. Given what the disc from an earlier room was.

*Starmetal Brush of the Night Canvas- (Weapon, Wand, Astral, 120,000,000 Gold) +120,000 Magical Attack, +120,000 Ranged Attack, +1,200,000 MP, if wielder possesses no secondary MP pools, wielder obtains a secondary MP pool that may be used to pay MP costs for non-Overcrash actions involving Astral Magic Spells but not for other purposes (including keeping wielder from dying by possesses-0-MP-based conditionals) that contains 2,400,000 MP, Wielder may have an additional 5 Empowered Constellations set at a time, Wielder may choose up to three spells or abilities wielder possesses that may set Empowered Constellations and choose for said Empowered Constellations to automatically be set at the start of battle, Wielder's Empowered Constellations that possess Phases may begin with a Phase of 2, Wielder may choose for one of wielder's Empowered Constellations to have their Phase incremented by an additional 1 at the start of each round, Wielder may choose for one of wielder's Empowered Constellations that possess Phases to have their Max Phase value increase by 2 (with this effect not being able to influence the Max Phase value of another Constellation until the first is removed)

Kit, through effort of healing and abjuration, manages to shrug off Astral Echoes. The Dream manages likewise.
The Cloudrider and Suncloud are having somewhat more of a time doing that, although the Cloudrider is just-about managing to prevent itself from getting hurt through ablative clouds (a tactic that, while working right now, is unlikely to be helpful if the group hits another battle) and the Suncloud is managing to hold it off through clever application of Stasis.

Kit dips her Starmetal Brush into the depression! The liquid starlight is absorbed into the brush. She then paints a long, smooth stroke linking the fancier depression to the top-left one.
The top-left depression half-fills with starlight. At the same time, the cascade of stars in the northwestern part of the wall abruptly parts as the metal shifts, revealing a new passageway further into the dungeon.

Kit dips the brush into the half-filled depression, absorbing its starlight, and paints a second stroke from the bottom-centre depression to the top-right one.

Another shimmer heralds the cascade of stars in the northeastern part of the wall parting as the metal shifts, revealing another new passageway further into the dungeon.

There's no more starlight in the depressions, although Kit thinks she might be able to have the brush absorb it from the lines she painted.

The new doorway looks stable enough- no odd shifting of shape or colour, or sudden eruptions of [nothing] angrily tearing at the fabric of reality.

She heads on through, into a narrow corridor of cascading starlight and out the other side.

The new room is an almost exact copy of the first, save for having no other exits and no depressions or symbols on its floor-disc.
It's also different because it's holding a pair of archers made of silvery light, glowing white points and lines shining through from within like some sort of abstract skeleton.

The Dream identifies them as Constellation Hunters (Spirit & Astral Being, Level 58).
Kit and her crew are just-about faster than the opponents!

Re: Kit tries her luck

Kit unleashes a huge Flare, blasting the Astral spirits with Fire, Light, Magic, Time and Glory!
It deals Moderate damage to one, and Light damage to another- far less effective than she'd expected. It looks like they're resisting Light to an extent, which makes a sort of sense, given their forms.

Tsatmeiyal summons up a Fantasmic, calling forth a Bulwark of Shining Imagination (Fantasmic, Level 52). It's a heavily defense-focused entity with a specific focus on MIN, and uses MIN as its primary defensive stat. It's capable of allowing its allies to also key their defenses off MIN, to prevent (non-Psychic-or-Dream, non-MIN-or-SAN-affecting) Status Effects from hitting its side of battle easily by declaring them 'all in the mind', provides a bunch of different Defense-increasing buffs (including Stat Defense and MP-damage Defense), can redivert attacks to itself, and can Reflect Light, Dream and Psychic-based offensive actions.

The Cloudrider of the Heavens Beyond continues to call up Enveloping Clouds of the Heavens Beyond. It's not as effective on itself, as it's still having to deal with being on Green-and-Purple Fire and affected by Astral Echoes.

The Suncloud is staving off the status effects by using Stasis on itself. It unleashes a Stasis Prominence, lashing out at the two enemies with a grey tendril of static flame. It deals Minor damage to both, failing to freeze them in place but still managing to slow them somewhat.

The first Constellation Hunter tries to hit the Suncloud with a Star-Piercing Shot, but its aim goes wide, sending the silvery arrow of starlight clattering off one of the walls instead of finding its target.
The second unleashes a Stellar Volley against the group, shredding their ablative-cloud defenses and managing to deal Heavy damage to the struggling Cloudrider as well as removing its defenses.

The round ticks.
The Cloudrider takes Moderate damage from being on Green and Purple Fire, as well as losing its next turn to the status effect. It's having some trouble.

Kit moves to heal her side:
Celestial Wind- (Spell, Celestial Magic, Air, 12,000 MP, 3,000,000 Gold) +3,000 Magical Attack, Heals allies, 30% inflicts suffocation on opponents, 1 hit against 30, deals 1/3 Damage
is cast, healing herself and her allies.

the bulwark moves to interpose itsself between it and its allies to defend them.

Tsatmeial uses its gaze to harm to harm one of hte enemies
Twohundredfold Gaze- 75,000 Damage, Counters to this action cost 200 times their normal listed MP quantitiy, to a max of 2,000,000,000 additional MP, Light or Psychic or Sonic or Glory, 0 MP (sonic. on the first hunter)

the suncloud hmmmms as it tries to act as a cloud barrier and nebula barrier. trying to interfer with teh constellations! being a moving bright light that will mess up any constellation bonuses!

Kit's Celestial Wind heals herself and her allies a Moderate amount.
The Bulwark of Shining Imagination positions itself to defend the party from the hostile spiritual entities.
The Dream of Tomorrow levels a twohundredfold glare at one of the Constellation Hunters, dealing it Light damage. Part of the reason why it didn't do too much is due to the Eternal Suncloud being ordered into getting in the way of things.
Which it does.
On the one hand, the Constellation Hunters don't have any active Constellations around to draw power from destroying. On the other, the Suncloud could be considered a 'constellation' of sorts, meaning their attacks could well be rather effective against it.
They weren't expecting their target to get quite as in their faces as it just has, however, and as a result both of their attacks fail to deal any significant damage to the Fantasmic, dealing only Light damage to it as a result.

The round ticks.
The Cloudrider takes Moderate damage again from being on Green and Purple Fire and the Astral Echoes. Kit thinks it's hovering at about 50% health right now. On the plus side, it's not losing its action this round.
